Its not to late to add your voice at the meeting on Thursday.
Coalition member Mark Donelly has an excellent article in today's Herald. If every member group wrote a letter supporting his view we would send a very strong message to the Council. Our neighbourhoods are at risk.

Character Coalition Meeting with Unitary Plan Team
25th October 6-9pm Town Hall

Dear Coalition Members
Our meeting with the Unitary Plan team is on Thursday night. Twenty of our 36 member groups have indicated they will be attending the meeting. While we will represent your views to the best of our ability it will make more of an impact if we are all present to talk about the particular issues facing our areas.
Please come to this important meeting.

Here is the draft agenda sent by the Council.

DRAFT AGENDA - Character Coalition Workshop
Arrive and refreshments 6pm – 6.15pm
Welcome - Deputy Mayor, Penny Hulse 6.15pm
Character Coalition - Sally Hughes to introduce group 6.25pm (I have asked for more time)
Unitary Plan Presentation:
Historic Heritage and Historic Character
6.35pm – 7pm
Workshop
  1. Feedback on the draft Historic Heritage and Historic Character approach
  2. Possible gaps
  3. Possible alternative approaches
7pm – 8.00pm
Character Coalition – additional issues for discussion 8.00pm – 8.50pm
Closing – Deputy Mayor, Penny Hulse 8.50pm

I have said in reply that while we appreciate the opportunity to feedback in the workshop session members are adamant that they do not want a repeat of the group sessions that many have found so frustrating during the local board consultations.

The Chief Advisor has 'passed on my feedback re the workshop to the Deputy Mayor, Roger Blakeley and Penny Pirrit and they will come back to you with an updated outline as soon as possible'.

The Coalition now numbers 36 groups from all over Auckland. This is a sizable group and cannot be ignored.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday at the Town Hall.

Kind regards
Sally
