Dear Parents and Caregivers
Industrial Action – Teachers’ Strike on Thursday 16th March 2023
The NZEI has advised the South Wellington Intermediate School Board that its member teachers at our school will be taking strike action on Thursday 16th March 2023.
The Board has carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching staff, and unfortunately decided that we can’t provide normal instruction during the strike so the school will officially be closed for instruction during the above date.
We have students at camp on this date (Camp 4 - Rooms 1, 2, 5, 6). Camp will continue as normal and the strike will not affect this.
In order to prioritise the health and safety of the students at camp, the school is unable to provide supervision at school for any students not on camp. This means it’s important that you make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children during the period of the strike.
We know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike. Please be assured that student safety is our main concern.

Pride Lands will be taking our cubs for a picnic at Wellington Zoo!
Book your cubs online for the Strike Day with us and we will take care of everything while you are at work.
Spaces will be limited and so we advise you to book early to avoid missing out as we need to plan and make the necessary arrangements for our activities.
If you require a pick-up and drop-off service please advise in your enrolment and we advise submitting appropriate WINZ forms for processing as well.
Please advise if your cub(s) need additional 1-on-1 support so that we can organise this for them.
Also note, all meals are provided: Breakfast, Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea.
