We started this week with a wonderful Whānau meeting on Monday evening. The hangi that Craig Rofe organised was delicious and Sam Wilson did a great job organising the event as well. If you are interested in joining us for our next meeting the please reach out to Sam. His email is sam.wilson@swis.school.nz
Te iwi tahi tatou - We are one family.
Tēnā koutou, Konnichiwa, As-salāmu 'alaykum, Hola, Hello!
Thank you!
We had a very successful reunification drill last Monday and I would like to thank Karl Emson for all of his organisation of this event.  The efforts of our school whānau were also impressive!  I heard of families who organised neighbours, friends and other family members to come from all over Wellington and collect students from school AND these had to be organised in advance so that our system reflected the correct person was named on our records.  By 3:10 pm we had 15 students who had NOT been collected.  That's a pretty impressive outcome in my books.
There are, of course, areas that need improvement and this is why we ran the drill.  Our texting system was not up to our expectations for example so this is one of the things we will review for improvement.  Please take part in our review by completing this quick survey.

School accounts:
These were sent out last week and we have already had a large number of parents making donations and paying accounts.  Thank you for this!  You are able to pay these through the Kindo app, or the details are on the invoices that have been sent out by our office.

Can you help?
We have two events (possibly!) happening this year if we are able to get community support to run them.  First, it is the school's 75th Jubilee and I am looking for support to organise a celebration for this event.  If you have skills in this area, are interested in supporting a group of people to organise the event or have ideas and /or historical documents for us then please get in contact with the school.  My email address is principal@swis.school.nz or you can call our office and they will put you in touch with me (04 9399872).

The next event we need help with (and maybe there is some overlap with these projects!) is our annual Art Show. This was previously held in our hall in 2020.  I know there are a lot of talented and successful artists in and around our community and it would be great to showcase their work and raise funds for our school in the process.  Again, if you are interested in supporting us with the organisation of this event then please email me (principal@swis.school.nz) or call the office on 04 9399872.

Staff Only Day April 1st - this is no joke!
Please remember that our staff will be off-site on Thursday, April 1st for a range of training events.  For this reason, school is CLOSED TO STUDENTS on this day.  Please make other arrangements for your children that day.

Our assembly last week was a great opportunity to celebrate the successes of our students at the SWIS Athletiecs.  Many of these students have been off representing our school at the Intermediate Schools Athletics event on Wednesday.
Movin’March – Check out how we’re doing!
We are loving being a Movin’March school.  Walking, biking and scooting is a great way to kick start learning for the day, connect with your neighbourhood and improve wellbeing.  It’s also great for the planet.  We’ve seen some amazing walking and wheeling efforts this month and some are filling up passports fast!  Come to the school office if you need a new passport.  All WOW passports returned to the school office by the end of March will go in the draw to WIN 12 x $400 MYRIDE vouchers!
Dan was the lucky winner of our spot prize draw from Movin' March.  He won a goodie bag with a set of headphones and a bunch of other prizes! Congratulations, Dan!
