Once a year I offer an in house two day steel string voicing class. This year I have decided to offer this class as a LIVE Virtual Class. The class is scheduled for April 3, 10 and 17 at 6:00PM MT. All classes will be conducted via Zoom and are interactive. You will need a computer with web cam and microphone to participate. You will also need to have your own workspace with tools in order to build your soundboard and follow along with class assignments. Students have the option of sending me their soundboards after the class for my critique.
This is the Holy Grail of guitar building! In this class you will learn how to thickness, brace and voice a soundboard with me. You can then use your top as reference for future soundboards or you can use it on a guitar.
- The optimum thickness for the species of wood you are using
- What a loose or stiff top is
- Different radii and how they affect tone and structural integrity
- Bracing patterns,
- How to thickness soundboards with hand tools or power tools
- How to select tonewood,
- and much much more!
This is a great way to shave years off the lutherie learning curve in just a few class sessions. You will need to get and prep some of the materials for the first class, so please contact me if interested. The cost of the course is $600
