Every year I go on the road and teach classes on lutherie related topics. I have taught in Taiwan, Spain, Canada, Brazil and several places around the United States. This past week I taught a couple of classes at the renowned Marc Adams School of Woodworking in Franklin, Indiana. Marc runs a first class school offering weekday and weekend classes in a wide variety of subjects. I taught a five day class in making a soundboard. Students learned how to select tonewood and then joined, thicknessed, braced and voiced a steel string and classical soundboard. We also took an entire day in that class to address guitar set up.
I also taught a two day weekend class on French polish. This class is always popular with luthiers and woodworkers in general. Marc and I are discussing the possibility of me returning to teach more classes next year.
The classes were a good warm up for the same classes I will be teaching in my shop beginning this weekend.
My annual steel string voicing class will be held June 14 - 15 and the classical voicing class will be held June 16 -17. This is a great way to shave years off the lutherie learning curve in just a couple of days.
My French polish class will be held June 18-19.
If you are unable to attend the classes then my online acoustic voicing course and my classical voicing course as well as my online French polish course are the next best thing to being here with me in my shop. They are available via my website.
