Book Club Begins

After a summer break, Orrville Public Library's Book Club will soon be starting again. Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. Bring a copy of the book you are currently enjoying, chat with other readers, enjoy snacks and drinks, and help us brainstorm and plan for the future of the club.
Cook Book Club
Thursday, September 24, 6:00- 7:00 p.m.
Are you a super foods super fan? September's Cook Book Club will enjoy discovering dishes from "Chia, Quinoa, Kale, Oh My!" by Cassie Johnston, which features 30 super foods profiled in over 100 recipes. Copies of the book may be picked up at the circulation desk. All are welcome to join the club and bring a dish to share on Thursday, September 24 at 6:00 p.m. Plates and silverware will be provided.
Fall Story Time
Wednesday, September 2
During Fall Story Time, children will be introduced to wonderful stories, finger plays, songs, games, and age-appropriate crafts. Give your child a head start in language-related activities and social interaction with peers. Registration will begin September 2. We have openings for children from 9 months old through second grade. Story times fill up quickly, so be sure to register as soon as possible! Pete the Cat

Pete the Cat brings some groovy fun to Orrville Public Library. Children ages 4-7 may be registered for this hour of games, crafts, and
stories about everyone's favorite feline. "Cat"urday will be Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. Call the Children's Department to register; space is limited.
Used Book Sale
Friday, October 2, 9:00-5:00 p.m. &
Saturday, October 3, 10:00-2:00p.m.
Do you have books, videos, or CDs that are in clean, usable condition that you no longer want? Donate them to the Library! Items that we are not able to use for our collection will be placed in our Friends of the Library's semi-annual used book sale. We will be accepting donations through Monday, September 28.
The book sale will be held on Friday, October 2 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 3 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Orrville is also having their city-wide yard sales on those dates. Patrons paying over $30 for membership in the Friends of the Library group are invited to come to a private sale on October 1 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Membership forms will be available at the door. This year's sale includes an abundance of cookbooks that have been weeded from our collection.

Brick Builder Club

Our Brick Builder Club invites kids ages 8-12 to bring a friend to imagine, create, and build with us. We'll provide the Legos, you provide the imagination! Registration begins on September 9 for this free program; space is limited.

Help is available to those with questions about Kindle, Nook, or iPad technologies. Stop by for a quick tutorial on borrowing books and magazines from the library by downloading them to your device for free. Tech Assistance Night will normally be held the second Thursday of each month beginning on Thursday, September 10 from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. Upcoming dates include October 8 and November 12. During back to school season, our drive-up window can save you time by having held materials ready for you to check out from the convenience of your vehicle! You can also pay fines and check on the status of your card.
Get Involved and Try Something New!
Wayne County Fair: September 12-17. General Admission: $3.00; children 6 and under are free. Gates open at 8:00 a.m. daily.
Warm Up America Meeting: September 3 & 17; 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Orrville Public Library. Join beginner and experienced knitters and crocheters in creating afghan blankets for those in need in our area. If unable to attend meetings, drop off your completed afghan, shawl, hat, scarf or mittens at the Library. Donations of washable yarn are always needed.
Orrville Walks: Aultman Orrville Hospital, Growing Healthy Habits, Heartland Point, and the Orrville Safety Council have partnered with local businesses to make walking fun! Check in at Heartland Point on Thursdays to enter the weekly raffle and walk the two-mile loop or a route of your choice.
