The Christmas season and the up coming New Year is about the hope that we can become better, whether it be improving our health, our relationship with others or growing personally. The holidays allow us to reflect on our achievements and look at what areas of our life we want to improve.

January Yoga Classes - Value Added Offer

We are very excited to introduce our new yoga team to you! Lyle Anderson, Matthew charbonneau, Andrea Stepaniuk and Mishonne  Temple. We offer Hatha Flow, Hatha Restore, Vinyassa Flow and Yin classes Monday through Thursday nights. Whether you are looking for a deep stretch, a class with a focus on breathing or a more vigorous work out we have a class to suit your needs. For further details and pricing, see our yoga schedule.

Laser Therapy

Laser TherapyLaser therapy has been around for over thirty years, but recent improvements in technology and cost has made it easier to use in today's clinical setting. Laser has been shown to be highly effective in treating musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain, sciatica and arthritis. The technology can also be used for acute sports injuries, repetitive strain conditions, degenerative conditions, as well as, the various symptoms relating to a whiplash injury. Laser used light emitting diodes to treat the damaged or traumatized tissue with photons that promote a physiological reaction that leads to the restoration of normal cell structure and function. The laser promotes a decrease in pain, enhances the body's immune system response and accelerates the natural healing process. The advantages of laser therapy are that it is easily applied, non-invasive and cost effective. Some of the common conditions that laser has been used successfully for at the Wellness Centre include soft tissue injuries such as sprains and strains, repetitive stress injuries such as carpal tunnel and tennis elbow, low back problems, sciatica and neurological conditions.

2013 Fitness Resolution; A New Year, A New You!

Have you started thinking about your New Year’s Resolutions yet? One of the most common New Year’s resolutions is to get in better shape. This is also one of the most difficult behaviors to commit to, as it requires you to make significant lifestyle changes. Here are some tips that will help you make those lifestyle changes easier:
Planning ahead can improve your chances of successfully committing to these lifestyle changes. Scheduling time into your day to exercise can help with the transition to a healthier lifestyle and help you stay motivated.

Establish S.M.A.R.T. fitness goals. Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time based. Write your goals down, keep them with you at all times, and read them twice a day.

Find your ‘why’. Your ‘why’ is your motivation and your momentum to keep you going when life throws curve balls your way. It is not always going to be smooth sailing, but knowing your ‘why’ will help you sail through the rough seas and avoid sinking your ship.
Hold yourself accountable to someone you trust and who will support you during this lifestyle change. This person can be a family member, friend or co-worker.
Seek professional help if you are not sure where to begin or if you want a change in your current exercise routine. Hiring a Certified Personal Trainer can help you decrease your risk of injury, hold you accountable, and give you the tools to help you successfully achieve your fitness goals for your New Year’s resolutions. Now is the time to prepare for January 1st!
