Happy summer, 2021!
Here in Virginia, the home of Blue Suede Connection, USA, we are finally getting back to some kind of normality, a new version of life, outside of the pandemic that has held our world hostage for the last 16 months! We pray that you and your family are healthy, happy and safe!
2020 was shaping up to be a very good year for us, post virus, as we worked towards collaborating with some very fun Elvis folks and events around the globe. One of them being the Niagara Falls Elvis Festival folks, in Canada, which has now been postponed until 2022 (click on ad below). And while 2021 is the year for regrouping and recovering, we are very much looking towards the future.
We have now expanded into 8 countries, adding, Sweden, Greece, Australia, and Spain to the Blue Suede Connection party-list!
Here in the USA, the big fish to land had always been Las Vegas! And in the month of May, 2021, we finally added, KIOF, 97.9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This was a huge event for us, as Las Vegas, believe it or not, has only two stations that currently playing music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. This required patience and diligence, until finally the moment was right, and KIOF gave BSC a chance.
Hawaii is another tough, but must-have, Elvis location. Though full of fan's and Elvis related memories, we continue to struggle in our efforts to secure a spot. Again, it comes down to dwindling channels and closed-mindedness as to the popularity of our man, which remains strong despite the opinions of others, who know little about Elvis' legacy. I have faith we will put Elvis, for FREE, back on the Islands, and as Elvis sang, "It's just a matter of time."
Thank you for your continued support and long live Elvis Presley's musical legacy.

Radio 101

Despite the slow down across the world, radio has thrived. Much like the book industry, people turned to podcasts and celestial channels for entertainment while they held up, sequestered inside their homes in 2020.
That's not to say that radio does not have it's own struggle, with shows canceling, broadcasters falling away, often due to financial stress and tragedy. However, radio is a medium that has thrived, filling a purpose during World War II, when families gathered around the box for their nightly entertainment.
And radio listener are special, different than most other medians, where an intellect is mixed with a desire to commune. And over these months, we have truly enjoyed communing with our listeners, who call in every week with stories and song requests, often leaving encouraging messages; all of which have meant the world to us.
We hope you have enjoyed what we do as much as we enjoy creating it. And remember, call us anytime, at 540-227-0514. Give us your song requests, share your Elvis story, or offer a show idea you'd love to hear on the air.
We are always here...

Recently, we aired a tribute to The Sweet Inspirations, Elvis' all girl vocal group, who worked with Elvis from 1969 until the very end, 1977. When you're an Elvis fan, these ladies need no introduction, but deserve all of our admiration! So, much so, we dedicated a blog to all their greatness. If you missed it, read it here: https://blue-suede-connection.blogspot.com/2021/05/elvis-sweet-inspirations.html
