Keynote speaker Mr. Tim Juliano discussing bullying
Celebrating Abilities!!!
Futures Rehabilitation Center observed Intellectual Disabilities Awareness Month with a Celebrating Abilities day on March 25, 2015. More than 200 participants, staff, and agency colleagues joined together to Celebrate Abilities with a day of information, fun and food.
The keynote speaker of the day was Mr. Tim Juliano of Milestone Health Care Quality Unit Northwest. Mr. Juliano’s interactive discussion focused on bullying, and it included the types of bullying we may be subjected to, identifying bulling when we see it, hear it or feel it, and what to do about bullying.
Information booths by Milestone Northwest Health Connections provided information concerning nutrition, internet safety, bullying, smoking cessation, and the importance of a mammogram for breast cancer detection.
Firefighters Jeff Kloss and Butch Kreiner of the Bradford Fire Department did a presentation on fire safety, what do to if you are in a house with smoke or fire, 911 call types, and preventing injuries during lighting storms. An engaging and informative question and answer session followed the firefighter’s presentation.
Many area agencies participated in the planning and facilitating of the days events, including the McKean County Department of Human Services, Link of Cameron, Elk, and McKean Counties, Evergreen Elm, Aging/Intellectual-Developmental Disability Team of Cameron, Elk, Forest, McKean, Potter, and Warren Counties, and Futures Rehabilitation Center.
Futures Rehabilitation Center would like to thank all of the many people and agencies involved in making the day’s events informative and fun.
