Eagle Scout Alumni Association

San Diego-Imperial Council

Hello ESAA Board members and friends:

I hope this monthly report finds each and all of you in good health and fine spirits. The only constant these days is change. Scouts maintain their well-adjusted disposition during these challenging times by being prepared. We are prepared by the things we do.

Our local ESSA Chapter has formed the Eagle Scout Facemask Project to help others at all times. ESSA has also established a Grant program to help underwrite Scout efforts to participate in the Facemask Project. I urge you to visit our website at to learn more about the Facemask project and the numerous opportunities for both you and Scouts to participate in the Facemask Project.

This past month both the Western Region of NESA and out local ESSA Chapter completed their Scholarship Application review process. The scholarship recipients will be getting notice of their award very soon.

ESSA and I Love A Clean San Diego have formed a collaborative effort to facilitate Scout service projects throughout San Diego County. On Saturday, June 20, 2020 I Love A Clean San Diego is hosting a virtual Creek to Bay service project.  I urge you to visit the I Love A Clean San Diego website at to learn more about this upcoming event.

Nothing is more encouraging than looking to the right and left to witness Scouts engaged in these projects to help others … especially at this time.

Best Regards,

Dan Mazzella
President, 2020

During these challenging times, perhaps the Scout Law is most relevant in guiding us to step forward and serve to support public health. The Eagle Scout Alumni Association (ESAA) is promoting an opportunity for Scouts to help with the construction of face masks. Scouts can apply for funding from ESAA for face mask supplies including fabric, ties, and thread. Please share our Facemask page with Scouts and their Units for information about the project and grants to support the effort.

COVID-19 Property Cleanup

The San Diego-Imperial Council is clearing out old equipment and you are invited to join in the bidding. There are many items up for auction from Canoes to Tents to a Fire Engine. Bidding is now open and the auction starts closing Saturday, June 27th at 10am.

There are some essential council services that rely heavily on donor support and are currently facing shortages due to camp closures. Please consider bidding on one or more of these lots of equipment. Not only could you score a great deal, but you will be directly supporting our local council with funds that will keep our great program afloat. (I'm sure the Rangers won't mind some extra room around Balboa too!)

Bid / Explore Here

Thanks in advance for supporting our local scouting program and please let us know if you hear about Scouts in our community that are making a difference.

Please pay your 2020 dues of $20, you can pay for multiple years if you wish so $100 will get your dues through 2024 paid, or purchase your lifetime membership for $300.
