COOL NEW THING

Currently on our ~coolest new shop in Brooklyn~ radar is Boerum Hill’s Outline. Founded by a group of friends including a former buyer for stores like Opening Ceremony & Totokaelo, we can already tell we will be popping by this shop whenever we’re in the neighborhood. Gogogo for their recently-opened curated storefront, chic backyard & checkered floor!

We’ve got your Friday night gallery show plans set. Interdisciplinary artist Tahsine al Hassane is in NYC this weekend showing her interactive artwork in the LES gallery, Sommwhere. The show will feature large scale collage, softer textile work & a participatory collective tapestry piece. Head to the opening tonight at 7-11p or stop by the rest of the weekend to see the show :-)

Online vintage seller, Club Vintage, is taking things IRL this Sunday with a pop-up in Dumbo. Stop by 205 Front street from 4-8p to peruse vintage furniture & drink drinks with one of our favorite curators.

Cool Friends: Tembe Denton-Hurst of Sundays Only

Meet Tembe, the person behind-the-scenes of biscuit delivery service, Sundays Only. Tembe has been sharing images of partner & baker, Connay Brattan’s food for years, and the two began selling food from their Instagram during the pandemic. We caught up with Tembe to hear how Sundays Only went from special occasion to special delivery.

How did you start your biscuit delivery service, Sundays Only?

I (Tembe) have been posting my partner Connay's food for years. People have been invested in the food she makes for a while, so when I posted a batch of biscuits she made, people were understandably excited. I liked the batch of biscuits so much, I started asking her to make them a few times a month. She would make them every time we had company, and I started filming our guest's reactions to the biscuits. Soon people started asking how they could get their hands on a batch. Fast forward to the beginning of quarantine, we decided to sell them. Our first run was about 15 people, and from there, the rest is history. 

 

What's your favorite part about the New York creative community?

How connected it is. In my experience, everyone is rooting for each other and wants to see each other achieve their goals. Also, everyone's ridiculously talented. Collaborating with my friends often means working with people who are shaping their industries as a whole. It's a privilege.

 

What's inspiring you right now?

My community. Post-pandemic, so many people have emerged laser-focused on their craft and it inspires us to keep growing and expanding our business.
