💋 Glasgow City Council - the local government authority for the City of Glasgow, were hot on their heels this week by promptly tweeting about Glasgow's very own Lawrence Chaney being crowned the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

💋 This is a delightful example of a council edging out of the comfort zone with a sassy 'Yaass Queen' tone of voice.

💋 It went down well with lots of positive and celebratory replies from residents - the sentiment can be summed up by this user's tweet: "Give @ShadyLawrence council tax exemption GCC 🤣🎊."

💔 The Black Country Living Museum is an open-air museum of rebuilt historic buildings in Dudley. It recently enlightened its TikTok users with an eye-opening lesson on women's rights.

💔 Appropriately set to the background music of 'Prisoner' by Miley Cyrus, it shows a frustrated woman in 1857 explaining that she would have to prove adultery by her husband if she wanted to get a divorce - making it almost impossible. It takes users to a more empowered woman in 1937 where women finally got the right to divorce.

💔Its no surprise that the Black Country Museum is one of the most followed museums on TikTok with its impressive and forward-thinking creative talents.

✊ Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is the local authority of the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley in South Yorkshire. It marked #AntiRacismDay with a short video highlighting how racism can be an 'awkward conversation.' It is still a very much needed conversation that can't be brushed aside out of fear.

✊ It's not virtue signalling, it's being real and bold, highlighting that saying/doing nothing can make you appear complicit. Sometimes silence speaks volumes. A brilliant post from a council who clearly didn't let the thought of trolls put them off from conveying a very important message for the greater good.

✊It received no negative comments. Users shared, liked and retweeted it. It's refreshing to see a council who aren't risk-averse when it comes to communicating real and relatable issues with their residents.

👏 Hats off to Barnsley Council.
