Hi <<First Name>>

Welcome to Digital Brand Bites.  A snack-sized deconstruction of social media content from big brands. This week, we have:

🥫 Weetabix, it's 'bean' a crazy start to 2021!
🐥Sesame Street's Big Bird introduces his shady-looking cousin.
San Miguel Sheriff and their 'bould(er)' tweet.
📜Shaan - the guy who brought us the Handforth Parish Council video.
🐱Cat filter - the lawyer still doesn't know how he became a cat.

🥄 Enjoy your digital bites - Bon Appétit!
🥫Weetabix, the whole-grain wheat breakfast cereal brand, caused quite a stir on Twitter with this nauseating post. It sparked a wave of responses from lots of concerned brands asking if Weetabix were feeling OK. Here are some of my favourites:

✈️Virgin Atlantic: "That doesn't fly with us."
Which?: "This is not Which? recommended."
🍍Dominoes Pizza: "Us: Pineapple on pizza is the most controversial food ever. Weetabix: Hold my spoon."
🍕Pizza Express: "Woah, guys. Never had @heinzUK down as a Cereal Killer!?"
🔥Tinder: "Trust us, this is not a Match."
💊NHS: "This tweet should come with a health warning."

🥫Other brands that got involved; Lidl, Tesco, Kellogs, Papa John's, Channel 4, Innocent Drinks, Metro, Marmite, Specsavers, PG Tips, HMV, KFC, National Rail, Aunt Bessie's, Kit Kat, National Trust, Yorkshire Tea, Sainsbury's Xbox, Moonpig, Northants Police, Shakespeare's Globe and of course, Heinz.

🔗 Check it out.
🐥Sesame Street - Big Bird from the educational children's television series recently introduced some of his international cousins in a Twitter thread.
🦜Big Bird's 'creepy-looking' Brazilian cousin Garibaldo ruffled a few feathers on Twitter, with lots of users judging the poor bird by his looks - "Garibaldo looks like he sells orphans." Big Bird: "He may look scary but he's one of the nicest birds I know!"
🦚 What a quirky and entertaining way to highlight diversity and not judging a person (or bird!) by their appearance 👏.

🔗 Check out his cousins.
San Miguel Sheriff - a law enforcement account based in Colorado, recently rocked Twitter by communicating this important message. It went viral, just for stating the obvious and sparked 5K+ users getting in on the joke.

⭐It reminded users about this time last year when they were faced with a similar issue and tweeted, "large boulder the size of a small boulder is completely blocking the east-bound lane Highway."
📜The guy behind the viral #HandforthParishCouncil video was 17-year-old Shaan Ali from East London.

📜Shaan is studying A-level politics and in his spare time, loves watching local council meetings. He said to the BBC: "You know, old men struggling to use Zoom, fun arguments - there's always something fascinating going on."

📜Shaan was nervous about sharing the original video on Twitter, so he got his pal Janine to do the honours.

😸“Everybody's face popped up except mine, mine was a cat." Texas Court Attorney Rob Ponton says he and his team still aren’t sure how the Zoom cat filter entered the virtual courtroom.
