From the Chair
Dr. Vigor Yang
Every graduation season brings stories of triumphs, accomplishments, and celebration. The Fall 2016 season was no different.

But it was a little surprising.

Among our departing graduates was Nana Obayashi, a Japan native who earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees here. The surprising thing is not that this honors student fielded several job offers before graduating. That story is not surprising.

What's stunned us, just a little, is that, while she was completing her master's degree, Nana Obayashi was taking classical ballet lessons. Five days before she picked up her M.S. AE diploma, she performed a piece from the Nutcracker during a formal dance recital. You may view it here.

Turns out that (talent + ambition) (4-8 years @Tech) =  great futures. read more

Congratulations:  2016 Ph.D. &  M.S. grads!!
