Starting 2016 with ISH

This year is sure to be an exciting one at ISH as we continue to improve and expand our services to meet the sexual and reproductive health needs of the community! If you missed it, we expanded and re-branded our product sales room, which is now Frisky Business. Check out below for new and exciting changes coming this year.

The beginning of the year is also always marked with Sexual and Reproductive Health Week (SRH Week)! Befitting the theme it always falls around Valentine’s Day, which happens to be next weekend, meaning SRH week is next week!! In celebration, ISHS will be holding two events- February 10th, 10am-2pm at Saanich Commonwealth Place, and February 11th, 10am-2pm at Camosun College, Lansdowne. We want to hear how you #heartyourparts, and discuss what barriers you may face in accessing sexual and reproductive health services. We will have great resources, games, and prizes! Check out the SRH week website from Action Canada for Sexual Health & Rights.

Our SRH week events:
  • Feb. 10th 10am-2pm, at Saanich Commonwealth Place
  • Feb. 11th 10am-2pm, at Camosun Lansdowne

What's happening in Sexual and Reproductive Health

Winter 2016
Can't attend our Sexual and Reproductive Health Week events?? Let us know how you #heartyourparts with this short poll
Check out this excellent article on the stigma that still exists around having the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). Many, if not all, STIs still carry with them a certain stigma. It is important we work to change this to minimize barriers to support, treatment and management. There should be no shame in illness of any type.
One of our current practicum students is in the preliminary stages of creating a needs assessment. We will be looking for community agencies and service providers who are willing and able to take part in our survey/short interviews. This will likely happen at the end of February. If you would like to give ISH feedback and participate in the assessment please contact Melissa at couparm@gmail.com.
Wondering about oral dams?? Check them out here. You can also purchase them for $1 each from Frisky Business
Looking for an amazing event to attend in Vancouver to support Sexual and Reproductive Health day on Feb 12th? Look no further than the fabulous breakfast event held by Options for Sexual Health BC.
