Exciting updates on my bills! I have introduced two of my five bill both of which are bipartisan and which I believe will make an incredibly positive impact on Coloradans.

The first is titled “Update Division of Housing Functions & Local Development” (HB21-1009.) This bill:

  • Broadens the scope of the grants and loans for affordable housing from serving “low-income” to “low- and moderate-income” households.

  • Adds language to explicitly allow the Division of Housing to collaborate with other state agencies to develop financial incentives that support-

    • Local development near transit corridors

    • Increased housing density near employment, education and town centers and

    • Energy performance standards that minimize building operational costs.

  • Adds the function to collaborate with other state agencies in connection with the disposition of state-owned assets to be used for low- and moderate-income housing.

The second bill is titled “Adoptive Parents Payments to Outside Providers (HB21-1018.) It has been assigned to the House Health & Insurance Committee on March 2. This bill:

  • Allows parents who adopt a child who receives adoption assistance through Medicaid to pay out of pocket for physical and mental health services by a non-Medicaid provider that the parents determine would be beneficial to the child.

I will be providing you all with more updates on these bills through this newsletter as well as announcing my other bills once they have been finalized and introduced. Thank you all for your support!
