Rare Earth is a film about speculation, notions of scarcity, and the legacy of mineral extraction in the Mojave desert.

Prospecting has commenced around the world for rare earth minerals, with speculation extending to outer space. This film, centered around the re-opening rare earth mine and explores the transformation of rock and mountains into consumer electronics and computer-aided weaponry, and the desert residents who grapple with the various impacts of industrial mining.

*Director Elizabeth Knafo will be present at the screening!
