HNBA President Announces Key Leadership Appointments

Washington, DC – Robert Maldonado, the National President of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), announces key appointments for the 2015-2016 term. 

    HNBA General Counsel

    Rosevelie Marquez Morales

Mr. Maldonado has appointed Rosevelie Marquez Morales, Esq., a member of Harris Beach PLLC in New York as HNBA General Counsel.  Prior to her appointment, Mrs. Morales served on the HNBA Board of Governors as National Secretary from 2013 to 2015 and as Deputy President for Region II.  Mrs. Morales is a litigator. Her extensive background includes representing clients as national, regional, local and trial counsel in all phases of complex liability litigation through trial, including but not limited to insurance coverage, toxic tort, product liability, environmental, construction defects and accidents, property damage losses, commercial litigation, electronic discovery, bankruptcy, medical malpractice, labor law disputes and other related matters.  Mrs. Morales is a frequent presenter and has authored numerous articles.

    HNBA National Finance Director
    Irene Oria

Irene Oria, Esq., Special Counsel at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP in Miami, Florida has been appointed HNBA National Finance Director. Mrs. Oria’s practice focuses on complex commercial business litigation, with an emphasis on class action and multi-district litigation defense and representation of financial institutions in the full range of compliance, regulatory and litigation matters involving all aspects of the financial services business, including securities fraud litigation.  Mrs. Oria is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Florida and served as a law clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga in that District.  Mrs. Oria will chair the HNBA’s National Finance Committee, which is responsible for directing the HNBA’s fundraising efforts, developing processes to ensure the financial viability of the Association, and for managing all sponsor and supporter relationships.  In addition to having a successful practice involving representation of public and private companies, she brings a wealth of experience to her new role having successfully served as HNBA Regional President for Region VIII.
