2017 HNBA Corporate Counsel Conference &
Moot Court Competition
GRACIAS DE TODO CORAZÓN…
To my HNBA familia,
Organizing an HNBA Conference takes an incredible amount of effort. Organizing a Corporate Counsel Conference as successful as the one we just witnessed in Miami took far more than that; it took relentless focus by several selfless and dedicated individuals who spent long hours looking at every detail, without refusing to give up on the ultimate goal: a record-breaking Corporate Counsel Conference that far exceeded the expectations of every attendee, to give every one of us an amazing experience. I want to take this opportunity to recognize and say GRACIAS to every one of you who made sure we all had the best experience possible in Miami, and the opportunity to expand YOUR Global Network and in particular:

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
Now that I am back in my office following the incredible HNBA event in Miami, I wanted to take a minute to thank you for the kindness and tremendous hospitality you showed to me and my military colleagues. We could not be more honored to be associated with such an outstanding organization. You and your leadership team have so much to be proud of as your members represent the values that we cherish in our military. HNBA Former Student of the IPLI 2016 Class to Present at International Trademark Conference
Notre Dame Law School student Veronica Canton, 2L, has been selected to present a paper at the International Trademark Association’s annual meeting May 20 to 24 in Barcelona, Spain.
Arnulfo D. Hernández
The paper, titled “DMCA Challenges Regarding Secondary Liability and Wrongful Classification of Trademark Infringement,” explores the need for a legislative structure to protect trademarks in the way that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act protects copyrights.
Canton had extensive experience working in the field of intellectual property law before she arrived at Notre Dame Law School. For nine years, she was an intellectual property practice assistant on the intellectual property team at Reed Smith LLP in the firm’s San Francisco office, where she helped attorneys prepare for all stages of litigation, including depositions, pretrial hearings, and trials at federal courts and The International Trade Commission.
Canton was born in El Salvador and moved to San Francisco when she was 9 years old. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in international relations at San Francisco State University.
Because she speaks Spanish fluently, she supported several of Reed Smith’s pro bono cases...
