2019 HNBA Intellectual Property Symposium
February 15, 2019 | 11:00 am AST
Ferraiuoli LLC, 221 Avenida Juan Ponce de León, San Juan, PR

The HNBA Intellectual Property Law Section invites you to join us for the 2019 Intellectual Property Symposium.

Before the devastation of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rican universities were graduating more Hispanic Engineering Majors than any state in the United States. Puerto Rico is open for business again, and so are its universities and entrepreneurs. Startup accelerators and incubators like Parallel 18 and Grupo Guayacan embody the entrepreneurial spirit by welcoming to the island startups from around the globe to help those companies scale and foster growth in Puerto Rico. The HNBA commends these efforts and would like to help by sponsoring the 2019 Intellectual Property Symposium.

The IP Symposium is tailored to startups, entrepreneurs, future entrepreneurs, academics, and students on the island. The symposium’s goal is to educate those companies and individuals in IP basics including IP procurement, valuation, and enforcement. Our panelists are IP professionals, including law firm and in-house attorneys, with varied technical backgrounds and decades of experience in the field. View details and panel descriptions HERE.

We hope to see you there!

Registration is complimentary.

Generously sponsored by Ferraiuoli, Finnegan, and Fish & Richardson.

Congratulations! Top Latino Lawyers 2018

Congratulations to HNBA Immediate Past President, Erica V. Mason, HNBA Past Presidents, Pedro J. Torres-Díaz, Miguel Pozo, Benny Agosto Jr., and Hugo Chaviano, HNBA VP of Regions & Affiliates, Jessica Massey, HNBA Region XI President, Joe Nuñez, and many other HNBA members for being listed in Latino Leaders Magazine as a "Top Latino Lawyer" in 2018.

Latino Leaders Magazine says, "This list is based off of tireless research on behalf of our committee in an attempt to identify the most influential members of the Latino Law community."

Benny Agosto Jr. Featured in Latino Leaders Magazine

HNBA Past President, Benny Agosto Jr., a partner with Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz in Houston, was featured in Latino Leaders Magazine's article, "Man of the Law," by Melissa Rondon. Read an excerpt from the article below:

Benny Agosto, Jr., believes in giving back to the community, and has built his career (and just about every other aspect of his life) around standing up for those without a voice. “We represent the little guy against the big guy,” he says. “That’s our motto.” There’s a touch of pride in his voice, and it’s warranted -- as a partner of one of Houston’s most successful plaintiffs’ law firms; former president of both the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas; Founder and President of the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas Foundation and Co-Founder of the HNBA Legal Education fund; and President Elect of the Houston Bar Association, not to mention a member of a number of charity boards from Houston Volunteer Lawyers to Lone Star Legal Aid, Agosto is committed to making a difference in every way he can. To him, generosity is a requirement, especially for someone in his position; talking about his and his wife’s activity on various charity boards and community projects, he says, “We have to do it. We feel like it’s our duty.”

HNBA Wins 2018 CLEO EDGE Diversity Award

The Hispanic National Bar Association was proud to be the recipient of one of the 2018 CLEO EDGE Diversity Awards given to organizations. Thank you to Christina Guerola Sarchio, HNBA Chief Compliance Officer and Partner at Dechert LLP in Washington, D.C., for accepting this prestigious award on behalf of the Hispanic National Bar Association!
