Connector Presentations Scheduled at Five Sacramento County Community Planning Advisory Councils
Following Connector JPA board approval earlier this year of the Initial Plan of Finance and Project Design Guidelines, a key next step in the project’s implementation is approval of general plan amendments in each of the five JPA jurisdictions.  As part of that process the JPA has scheduled presentations in September at five Sacramento County community planning advisory councils near the project’s alignment.  Following is the schedule:
  • Vineyard CPAC, Tuesday, Sept. 3, 7 p.m., Smedberg Middle School, 8239 Kingsbridge Drive, Sacramento
  • Delta CPAC, Wednesday, Sept. 11, 7:30 p.m., Jean Harvie Community Center, 14273 River Road, Walnut Grove
  • Southeast Area CPAC, Thursday, Sept. 12, 7:30 p.m., Herald Community Building, 12743 Ivie Road (behind firehouse on Ivie Road at Hwy. 104), Herald
  • Cordova CPAC , Thursday, Sept. 19, 7 p.m., DHHS County Branch Center, 3701 Branch Center Road, OB3-Conference Room 1, Rancho Cordova
  • Cosumnes CPAC, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 7 p.m., Wilton Firehouse, Wilton & Dillard Roads, Wilton
General plan amendments also will be pursued in Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Folsom and El Dorado County.  The JPA’s goal is to secure general plan amendment approvals in each of the JPA jurisdictions by the end of 2013.
The Connector’s first phase to be completed by 2023 will include four lanes over the Connector’s full 34-mile length from I-5 in Elk Grove to Highway 50 in El Dorado Hills, improved at-grade intersections, a continuous bike and pedestrian path, and right of way preservation.  The project’s second phase will include up to two additional lanes in some segments and interchanges at key access points, and be implemented in future years as additional funding is identified and demand dictates.
