Connector JPA Names New Project Manager
The Capital SouthEast Connector JPA has hired Derek Minnema as its new project manager under a contract with Drake Haglan and Associates.
Minnema will report to Connector JPA Executive Director Tom Zlotkowski.  He succeeds Dennis Haglan, principal with Drake Haglan, who has served as the Connector project manager for the past two years.  Haglan will continue to provide support as needed to the project.
Minnema will oversee preliminary engineering, project approval and environmental documentation of Connector segments that are moving toward construction.  He also will update the Connector’s Plan of Finance and Project Design Guidelines, work with JPA jurisdictions on adoption of the Connector into their general plans, and assist with Connector funding strategies.
“The Connector is one of the biggest regional transportation projects in recent memory and I’m excited about making it a reality,” said Minnema.  “The Connector team has made significant progress over the past several months and I look forward to playing a role in overcoming the challenges that remain to get it built.”
Minnema has led a number of high profile, complex projects in the region, including some on the Connector alignment.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Sacramento State and is a registered civil engineer in California.
