Dutch Movie Night
Date: 26-09-2016
Time: 19,30
Price: Free!
Location: CREA Theatre

In the FREE Dutch Movie Night ISN gives you an insight in the Dutch film culture.
We show you movies that were made in The Netherlands, and that most of the Dutchies will know for sure.
No worries… the movie will be shown with English subtitles, so you can actually understand what is being said!

The first movie of the new semester we are going to show you is De Heineken OntvoeringYES Heineken as in the beer brand. The movie is based on the most notorious kidnapping case in Dutch history. In 1983 Freddy Heineken (the former director of the Dutch beer brewery Heineken) and his driver Ab Doderer were being kidnapped. The kidnappers, four friends living in Amsterdam, demanded 35 million Dutch Guilder. Heineken was being held hostage for 21 days. As soon as Heineken is released and the perpetrators get away, a manhunt starts for the criminals….

The event is free for ISN Amsterdam members and for students at the HvA and UvA. You can just come in and show your ISN/student card!

The movie starts at 19.30 at the theatre of CREA (Nieuwe Achtergracht 170).

NO reservation is needed!

The Germans are well known for drinking beer, but once, every year, they go crazy for 3 weeks. During this national party more than 6 million people head to Munich to enjoy Bavarian culture to the fullest and you can be one of them! The following things are included: Transportation to Munich and back, Breakfast both days, Accommodation at our campsite: tents, sleeping bags and air matrasses will be provided, just bring a pillow! A survival guide in order to make sure you know all the traditional stuff and a great team of guides that will make sure you have a great time (and make it home safe).

Day trips to other Dutch cities!
Wow! We never expected the day trip to Rotterdam and Delft to sell out so quickly! We hope  everybody enjoyed the trip and the beautiful cities of Rotterdam and Delft! Since the Netherlands have so much more beautiful cities to offer than only Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Delft, we'll give you some recommendations about other Dutch cities you could visit by yourself! Of course we also organise other day trips to other Dutch cities and a Discover Holland Weekend (7-9 October) but we won't be able to show you every hidden secret our country has to offer :(

Amsterdam is part of 'de Randstad', this is the economic, cultural and innovative heart of the Netherlands. The four main cities are Amsterdam, Den Haag, Rotterdam and Utrecht. Other (big) cities are Delft, Leiden and Haarlem. Outside of the Randstad, you could go to MiddelburgDordrecht, Den Bosch, Eindhoven, Maastricht, Groningen or Nijmegen.  If you've seen all of this already and still want to explore more of the Netherlands, check out this list for some more inspiration!

The Dutch ABC
From now on we'll teach you something about Dutch culture every week, using the ancient ABC!

Amsterdam! Of course the A will be the A of Amsterdam, the beautiful capital of the Netherlands where you all live! Did you know Amsterdam has more canals than Venice? Did you know Amsterdam has more bicycles than inhabitants? And did you know Amsterdam has more museums per square meter than any other city in the world?

Bitterballen! These famous Dutch snacks, cripsy balls filled with minced meat, are often served on special events such as birthdays, sport events or during business meetings. The perfect combination of bitterballen and beer is also the best choice when your'e sitting on a terrace on a sunny afternoon!

Cheese!  What's Holland without cheese? Being the largest exporter, the Netherlands offer many varieties of this yellow delicacy, such as Edam, Gouda, Maasdammer and Boerenkaas. Make sure you take some of that gold back home!

Delftware or Delftsblauw  is a typical Dutch pottery that originated in the city of Delft. The original tin-glazed pottery was made from the 16th to the 18th centuries!

Efteling! Why go to Disneyland when the magic is right here, just around the corner in De Efteling near Tilburg! De Efteling is Holland's largest theme park with a huge fairytale forest and a lot of amazing rollercoasters. In De Efteling you'll find elves and creatures you've never seen before. And best of all, this might even be an ISN Activity soon!!

Sushi with 15 % discount!

Please make sure you make a reservation on time!

Deals on drinks on Wednesday nights!

Meet the Student of the Week!

Davide Pica is student of the week this time! Last Thursday during the buddy activity he was the best motivator on the beer bikes! His enthusiasm and motivational words helped the other students overcome all the 'big hills' in the streets and canals of Amsterdam! He also helped his team to win the beer chug game, thanks Davide!
