Dutch lessons
ISN Amsterdam organises Dutch lessons for a discounted price!
Always wanted to learn Dutch? Want to make the most of your exchange experience here in Amsterdam? Now you have the ability to do so!

Taalhuis organises Dutch lessons for either 6 or 12 weeks, starting in the week of the 13th of February. There are 3 possibilities:
- Every Monday from 5:30 till 7 PM (6 weeks, €60.-, syllabus).
- Every Wednesday from 5:30 till 7 PM (12 weeks, €150.- including a book worth €39,95).
- Every Thursday from 5:30 till 7 PM (6 weeks, €60.-, syllabus).

If you choose to participate 6 weeks, you'll finish just before the exams. If you choose to participate 12 weeks, there's one week break during the exams and after that another 6 weeks.

With 6 weeks, you'll end up halfway through level A1, so it's really the basics.
With 12 weeks, you'll have (around) level A1. However, by that time you're only halfway through the book, meaning you'll have level A2 when you finish the book! The book is named ' Nederlands in gang'.

Is this totally something for you? Or do you have more questions? Don't hesitate and come to our office! (You can also buy tickets there.) We're open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 till 5 PM (Nieuwe Achtergracht 170, room 1.15). See you there!

Survey on studying abroad

SEO Amsterdam Economics is doing a research on the reasons to study abroad. It would be really helpful for them if some of you guys could fill out their survey, so please read their message below:
Dear students,

We would be very pleased if you would participate in a survey on studying abroad. Being an international student in the Netherlands, you might have noticed that the number of students who go abroad for their studies is increasing continuously. What are the reasons for students to study abroad? Why have you chosen to study in the Netherlands? Would you had preferred to do the same study in your home country or in a country nearby if that was possible?

With these questions SEO Amsterdam Economics wants to gain insight in the reasons for students to go to a foreign country for their study. Reasons to study abroad might be the quality of the university, specific courses, career opportunities or life experiences.
The questionnaire is completely anonymous and will only be analysed on an aggregated level. The information gathered by this survey will be kept strictly confidential and will only be used for the purpose of this research. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes of your time. We would be very grateful if you could complete the questionnaire before 25 February 2017. By participating you can win one of the 5 gift vouchers of 25 euros.
Please use the following link to open the questionnaire:

Meet new friends and learn new skills at the same time! CREA is the cultural student centre of UvA and HvA and they offer a variety of courses in English for all non-Dutch speaking international students. Besides from taking courses you can also attend other non-Dutch events like debates & lectures, open mic evenings, movie screenings, theatre, comedy or you can relax and enjoy a drink at the CREA café. Check out for the program, course schedule and more information about CREA. You can enroll for a course online or at the course desk in the CREA building.
The international spring courses will start in week 7 (13-19 Feb).

One of the first things Erasmus students want to sort out when they arrive in the Netherlands is their accessbility, and of course we have taken care of this! When you study in the Netherlands, Lebara Mobile is one of the best and cheapest telecom provider for you as a Erasmus student. It’s prepaid, so you have total freedom. Free SIM cards are available at the ISN office!

Genki Sushi
What’s better than sushi? Try unlimited sushi. At Genki, ESN card wielders get a sharp discount on a meal that allows you to indulge in endless amounts of sushi and other dishes. The discount even applies to drink, so you can enjoy some Japanese sake to spice up your food coma.

From now on all of you guys will have the chance to become the student of the week! Every week we'll pick one student who'll be in the spotlight for their overall enthusiasm, help during activities, dance moves in the Coco's or anything else that makes them stand out. Maybe you'll even win a special prize once you've become student of the week, so start trying.. ;)
