Together with Yes-Trips, we claimed an extra-large boat to create the most memorable experience of your exchange. The boat fully supplied with unlimited beer, wine and soda, a DJ to bring you the best tunes and a music system that will make our pirate ship tremble. This is the link to our official event, ticket sale will start this Saturday! Watch out when you buy your tickets; only the ISN x Yes-Trips tickets are the right ones for the ISN event!

Carnaval! Alaaf!

Dutch carnival is celebrated with colour, frivolity – and reckless abandon. Join the Dutchies this weekend as they let loose!

When you start hearing traditional slapstick tunes in bars and seeing pop-up stores selling feestkleding (festival costumes), you know Dutch carnival is near – and local residents are itching to erupt into the huge street parties of raucous frivolity that signifies carnival in the Netherlands.

Mainly celebrated in the southern provinces of Noord-Brabant and Limburg, carnival was adopted as a religious festival. Nowadays, the religious meaning of carnival in the Netherlands has disappeared but the date and practice of overturning daily behaviour remain. The Dutch – and thousands of visitors who flock to the south – temporarily forget their strong belief in ‘being normal’ and don wacky costumes while singing and prancing around the city with drinks in hand. No matter your age, carnival in the Netherlands is a playground for children, young revellers and the elderly alike. Join our day-trip to Maastricht/ Mestreech to get the real carnavals-experience, or go by yourself to one of the other infamous carnaval cities: Lampegat (Eindhoven), Kruikenstad (Tilburg), Kielegat (Breda) or Oeteldonk (Den Bosch)! Check out  this ultimate guide to celebrating Dutch Carnival in the Netherlands and prepare yourself!

Survey on study support for exchange students

Help some students out with their new start-up and fill in this short survey on study support possibilities!

The Dutch ABC
From now on we'll teach you something about Dutch culture every week, using the ancient ABC!

Amsterdam! Of course the A will be the A of Amsterdam, the beautiful capital of the Netherlands where you all live! Did you know Amsterdam has more canals than Venice? Did you know Amsterdam has more bicycles than inhabitants? And did you know Amsterdam has more museums per square meter than any other city in the world?

Bitterballen! These famous Dutch snacks, cripsy balls filled with minced meat, are often served on special events such as birthdays, sport events or during business meetings. The perfect combination of bitterballen and beer is also the best choice when your'e sitting on a terrace on a sunny afternoon!

Cheese!  What's Holland without cheese? Being the largest exporter, the Netherlands offer many varieties of this yellow delicacy, such as Edam, Gouda, Maasdammer and Boerenkaas. Make sure you take some of that gold back home!

Delftware or Delftsblauw  is a typical Dutch pottery that originated in the city of Delft. The original tin-glazed pottery was made from the 16th to the 18th centuries!

Efteling! Why go to Disneyland when the magic is right here, just around the corner in De Efteling near Tilburg! De Efteling is Holland's largest theme park with a huge fairytale forest and a lot of amazing rollercoasters. In De Efteling you'll find elves and creatures you've never seen before. And best of all, this might even be an ISN Activity soon!!

Meet the first Student of the Week of this year!

Katerina Anthi is our student of the week! Katerina is one of the hard-working members of the ISN PR &  Funding Committee, but some of you might know her better as the girl who fell into the water last weekend during our Bike Tour in Amsterdam North! Although she might not be the best at biking, she's great at her tasks within the PR committee and she helped us a lot during the introduction week. Thank you Katerina for all your help and enthusiasm!
