It is going to be a busy, busy first part of the year as we launch BOOK #2 of 2018!

flotsam and gammorah (parlour tricks and other mysteries) by Bill Campana

Always the wizard with words, Bill Campana releases his 4th book of poetry filled with observations of the folly of man, Haiku sharp enough for a sewing machine and the first ever released collection of Deviant Words, which you'll just have to read to believe. Here's a taste:

cessparilla- a brown soft drink brewed from roots grown near a septic tank.

Go ahead, order a copy, you want to read the rest.

From the Author's Desk...

We ask a question of our authors, and we pick a response- and put it in here- for you- to read.
This Month's Question:
In your creative process, more often than not, what comes first- the character, the world, the plot or something else?

Colette Black:
In my writing, the character almost always comes first, but Moon Shadows is the exception. I started Moon Shadows as a device to prove to my son that you can't just decide to write a short story and start tapping the keys and, ta-da, come up with something.

It takes more planning than that. However, as I put together my shot-in-the-dark story of a teenager running for his life through the shadows, those dark patches started to twist and take on a life of their own, and so did Moon Shadows.

Of course, dark shadows chasing a character is nothing new, but what if the shadows are of your own making? That was a plot that caught my imagination, grew, and developed beyond a short story and into a novel that is intended to grow into a series.

From the Staff

We're Reaching Out!
This week marks the first ever direct mail campaign in Brick Cave history, we are calling it Project 'Hello" and we are introducing ourselves to independent bookstores across the country with a great easy to use catalog of the titles they can order for their patrons to enjoy.

If you own an independent bookstore, and you haven't seen our lovely little package arrive by the end of the month, reach out- we would be happy to send you one special.

And if you do receive one, shoot us a note, let us know what you thought.

The Reviews:

Platinum Magic, by Bruce Davis
"This was an incredibly imaginative, well written story. It combines mythical species but doesn’t have them interacting the way other Fantasy series have in the past."

- Tiffany Jones

The Healer's Legacy, by Sharon Skinner
- Kelly Powers
