Introducing the INNOVAdrive

The REEVES MotoDrive, the oldest industrial mechanical variable speed drive, was long the choice for industrial process control engineers. With a large installed base, these reliable machines still power many conveying and processing applications. Over the years, however, progress in the modern electronic age has ushered in new forms of industrial control that have slowly supplanted the venerable MotoDrive. Upgrading to a more modern electronic variable speed package presents challenges, not only in selecting the appropriate components, but also in retrofitting the drive support structure to match critical mounting dimensions.

Not anymore.

The new REEVES INNOVAdrive is a pre-engineered electronic variable speed drive package that is a drop-in replacement for the most common versions of the REEVES MotoDrive. The INNOVAdrive is a combination of Master APG gear reducer, inverter capable TEFC motor, AC variable frequency drive and mounting adapter. This pre-assembled package matches the original MotoDrive ratings, mounting footprint and output shaft location. Unbolt the original MotoDrive, drop in the new INNOVAdrive, couple to the load and be ready to run with the most modern electronic system interface.

The INNOVAdrive package is designed for manufacturing environments where process control and up time is critical. It combines the rugged Master APG gear reducer with a state-of-the-art variable frequency drive in a NEMA 4X/IP65 enclosure. Packages are available to replace most parallel shaft MotoDrive units from ¼ through 7-1/2 HP in output speed ranges from 14 through 3000 RPM. The INNOVAdrive is compact and versatile; a single INNOVAdrive assembly will replace most common existing MotoDrive assemblies.

“The REEVES INNOVAdrive is a simple and elegant solution to the problem of how to easily upgrade an existing installation to modern electronic control systems and improved performance” said Ed Krome, chief designer and developer of the INNOVAdrive.

Krome has been a mechanical designer and project manager with the Master and REEVES product lines for more than 38 years. For more on the INNOVAdrive, watch the short video above, view our INNOVAdrive brochure online or contact one of our product specialists at 888-616-1094.
