Happy New Year!!!
It's finally here, 2015!!!
It is hard to believe that after 2 + years of knowing we were called to go, we are now only months away. We are excited can you tell.
As the new year starts, we continue to prepare. This month we both get our full physical work-ups and x-rays so that we can fill out our visa paperwork. We will apply for our visa's next month. Jeremy is also getting his last eye exam and a new pair of glasses before we leave. Pray that doctors will have wisdom as they poke and prod us.
We continue to seek places to share what God has done in our lives and our calling to the SAN. If your small group or church would be interested, please contact us. This past Sunday, we had a great visit with family and new friends at Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church in Newland, NC.
Claudia will be in GA January 28-31. She would love to get together. We both will be in GA the weekend of March 28-29 and would love to have a place to share. Our calender is open for more visits to come see you.
Thank you to everyone who has given so generously and those who have pledged as new monthly supporters!!! Thank you to those who are already giving monthly.
Send us your Sticker
Most of us buy a memento or souvenir from the places we have been. Our family tradition is buying patches at all the zoos, parks and historic sites we have been. Then add them to our collection in a big picture frame on the wall. On our last vacation in November, we realized we have 4 big travel trunks that we are taking with us to Africa. Why not have our friends send us a sticker to put on our trunks? For us it will be a great reminder of the support and love from home while we are in Africa. So break out your thinking cap and send us a sticker that best represents you or your family. You can make your own here if you so choose. For example, Jeremy is putting his Marathon and Georgia Southern University stickers on his trunks.
You can send your stickers to our current mailing address at P.O. Box 804 Elizabethton, TN 37644.
We want to be good stewards of our resources. As we continue to downsize in all areas of our lives, this includes expenses. One way is to use the internet to deliver our newsletters. Currently, we publish an email newsletter then wait about a month and then publish a paper newsletter. It cost about $2 a person to mail the paper version. Since you are receiving this email newsletter, we have your email address. Starting this month we will no longer be mailing you a paper version. You will receive an email with a link to the digital version of the newsletters
Room for Hope
We had to say goodbye to one of our cats over Christmas because he had a stroke. Scooter was 14 years old. We got him shortly after we got married. He was the most loving cat, always waiting for you at the door purring and ready to sit in your lap. Our other cat, Lizzie, will be going to live with Jeremy's parents when we leave. However, we are still looking for a loving home for our dog, Hope
. She is an 8 year old, hound dog mix. We are looking for a family with children or a retired couple. She will need a lot of attention when we leave her. She also needs a fenced in yard because she follows her nose wherever it leads. (We are willing to install a fence, if you don't have one already.) She loves walks but must always be on a leash. If you have Room for Hope
in your family, please contact us and we will share more about her.
