Hazels in Africa

We have been in Africa for over 3 months now, travelled to 3 different countries, awaiting the fourth country, and we have learned so much. Below is a breakdown per country of what is happening here.

South Africa

We are back serving in the office in Johannesburg. We had a great week of In-Field Mentoring with Farming God's Way in late September. People from around the world came together to learn how to teach and present Farming God's Way in communities. We were in Keiskammahoek, South Africa where three teams went to different parts of the community to teach and demonstrate Farming God's Way. We had a great team from US, England, Canada, Ghana and South Africa. It was wonderful to be in the community sharing a new way of farming. Farming God's Way is equipping the poor for abundant life in Christ. God has already given what is needed to farm well and wants each person to become dependent on Him and not on man. Two ladies accepted Christ as their Savoir during the week. It was an amazing week and excites us to be in Tsumkwe soon.

We were able to go to Growing Nations for three week in August. We were able to participate in a mini- Farm Quest with two gentlemen working in community development. The highlight of this training was travelling to one farmer's land who is practising Farming God's Way. He told us the story of how he was "once poor and now he is rich." He is not rich by earthly standards but he gave God the glory of how his life had turned around and his family has all they need. The farmer's land has been restored by following God's Way of caring for it. His soil is as fertile of his heart for the Lord.

The beginning of October, we were able to visit the CECA Children Home in Cyegera, Rwanda. The children are well and doing good in school. We have over 400 pictures that the children took with our camera. Jeremy made a video of some of these photos. Jeremy was able to preach at a church plant where 4 people made a decision to turn from their own ways to follow Jesus. Jeremy preached Sunday morning at the church where he shared about the 4 soils and how to allow God to make our hearts fertile soil to serve Him so a harvest will be produced. There was much singing, dancing, clapping of hands, praising God for who He is. Claudia shared Sunday afternoon with the ladies about sharing their faith with their neighbors. God has given us each a story which is a part of His Bigger Story. We are to share our story, God's story, to anyone, anywhere, any time; so that we are following the commands to Love God, Love our neighbor, and Go make disciples. The trip ended with a great visit with a friend Claudia meet at ECHO last year. Luc works for Youth for Christ in Rwanda. Luc gave us a wonderful tour of their faculties in Kigali and also took us to a new school location in the East Providence. God is working mighty things through the staff to reach the next generation of Rwanda with Christian education and evangelism.

We are not in Namibia yet. Three out of eight team members have their visas. So three arrived in Namibia on Oct 15th and the remainder of the team has been delayed to November 26th. Our whole team was cleared to come financially, so TIMO made the decision to have two start dates for the first time ever. We are very thankful for the extension of time as we wait for visa approval. We are thankful also for so many people praying and their words of encouragement through this time of waiting. THANK YOU!!!

We will send out an email when we have approved visas. Please continue to pray for us and our team members who are waiting. Please pray for team members who are in country now starting their orientation.
This is a collection of photos from our Rwanda trip.
