Hello, what's up, and welcome to the Lite + Brite newsletter.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to get an event listed in the Lite + Brite newsletter? We will tell you: It's about things. How many of them does your event have? For example, let's say you're putting on a play. Well, that is at most one thing, so it may or may not make the cut. Now let's say you're putting on a a play + fire spinning + acrobatics + art installations + vendors + a dance party. That is a large number of things—you're in! A drag show? Could go either way. A drag show + cake? Come on down! Literature + art + music? Now we're cooking with gas! Dance + music + poetry + motivational speakers + DJs? Don't mind if we do! Alternatively, an event could have just one thing, but it's a thing that we really like; for example, funeral pop dance parties. As you can see, there are many paths into the heart of Lite + Brite. None of them are boring.

Let's do fun stuff!

DJ Stuff

Last week, No Lights No Lycra (our weekly dance party in the dark), returned to in-person dancing at last! It was amazing seeing a darkened room full of dimly glowing jiggly glow bands flipping around. Huge thanks to everyone who came out. More info on what was played and how to listen after the fact below.

We'll be back again next week too, in the spacious Great Hall at the West China Tea House. RSVP on Facebook here, and/or buy advance tix here!

Meanwhile, Brian's weekly radio show on the internet's most pee-adjacent radio station, KPISS, continues apace. No Humans Allowed dedicated a show to robotic self-repair so there were many healing jams. You can stream it on KPISS here.

What is No Lights No Lycra?
Austin's weekly judgment-free, substance-free, high-impact dance thing in the dark, every Monday at 8:30pm. It's a DJ night that's not at the club, a workout that's not at the gym, a personal meditation that's anything but silent. Read more about us in the Austin Chronicle.
How do we choose which events to feature?
Honestly, it's pretty random. We might include anything in Austin that we, personally, would conceivably want to go to, generally excluding normal concerts, comedy shows, and movie showtimes because there are many other good resources for finding those. (We especially recommend Showlist for live music, dance.atx for DJs, and 101+ Weird Austin Things to Do for exactly what it sounds like). This list is by no means exhaustive; it's just stuff that caught our eye this week. If you have an event that you want us to consider including, send it over.

Who are we?
We make this newsletter. We put on No Lights No Lycra each week. We do some other stuff here and there. We love going out to creative events in Austin, and we want you to join us. Visit us at liteandbriteatx.com.
SEE YOU NEXT WEEK, CHAMPIONS.
