Hello, what's up, and welcome to the Lite + Brite newsletter.

We've reached the final weekend of beloved November traditions Austin Studio Tour and Creek Show. These top-notch arts events are both well worth doing every year, so make your move before Sunday's over.

This passage of time means that we are also only ten days away from the first night of Hanukkah, and if you've already bought all your presents, well, goody for you, but if you're a normal person, the Blue Genie Art Bazaar, a Parisian flea market, the Front Market, and the Austin Witches Market are all open this weekend for your gifting needs. (How many Hanukkah celebrants want to receive Wiccan accoutrements this Hanukkah? There's only one way to find out!)

Also check out some bound-to-be-good parties by known party-throwers Almost Real Things, dadageek, and us. Next week's event schedule is on the lighter side due to Thanksgiving, so all the more reason to fully tucker yourself out now. As the old expression goes, "I'll sleep when I'm dead. Or when the only other option for passing my time is by eating my twentieth turkey of the day."

Let's do fun stuff!

P.S. Do you like reading the introductions to our newsletters? If so, then you might also like reading this piece that Leila wrote for Hyperreal Film Club entitled "A Complete List of Everything That I Think Happens in Star Wars Without Ever Watching It." Do you not like reading these introductions? Then you probably didn't make it as far as this postscript anyway!

DJ Stuff

This is a big week: we've got two in-person DJ gigs for you! Tonight, DJ Brian Blackout will be joined by DJ Niki Nash in spinning celestial tunes for a free Austin Studio Tour house party. And on Tuesday, we're back at West China Tea for 2021's second-to-last No Lights No Lycra dance party in the dark. We hope you can come out to either event (or both!).

In the online world, No Humans Allowed, Brian's weekly internet radio show on Kpiss.fm, took the show's array of robots and electronic gear out for a spin on the dancefloor.

How do we choose which events to feature?
Honestly, it's pretty random. We might include anything in Austin that we, personally, would conceivably want to go to, generally excluding normal concerts, comedy shows, and movie showtimes because there are many other good resources for finding those. (We especially recommend Showlist for live music, dance.atx for DJs, and 101+ Weird Austin Things to Do for exactly what it sounds like). This list is by no means exhaustive; it's just stuff that caught our eye this week. If you have an event that you want us to consider including, send it over.

Who are we?
We make this newsletter. We put on No Lights No Lycra each week. We do some other stuff here and there. We love going out to creative events in Austin, and we want you to join us. Visit us at liteandbriteatx.com.
SEE YOU NEXT WEEK, CHAMPIONS.
