San Jose Love Stories feature acts of kindness by our community for our community.

Last week, Scott's Chowder House had their grand opening for their second downtown location
on the corner of Market and St. John streets. At the opening ceremony, owner Steve Mayer announced that every officer and every civilian working for the San Jose Police Department will receive a $100 gift card to use at Scott's.

"I have such respect for our Police Department and what they do," Mayer said. Thank you, SJPD, for keeping downtown safe and thank you, Scott's Chowder House, for serving downtown delicious food.

Downtown San Jose PBID Stakeholder Survey
Since 2007, the San Jose Downtown Association has managed the Downtown Property-Based Improvement District (PBID). The PBID collects an assessment on Downtown properties within a specific boundary to fund enhanced services, including the uniformed Groundwerx clean team and safety ambassadors, tree maintenance and flower planting, public art, business development assistance, and more. Through the PBID, property and business owners have had a role in helping to achieve the goal of a Downtown San Jose that is clean, safe, beautiful and vibrant. To learn more about the San Jose Downtown Association and the PBID, visit

The PBID is reauthorized every 10 years. The current term expires in 2022, and as part of the reauthorization process, SJDA is seeking feedback on how it can continue to provide services that are of value to Downtown stakeholders.

Please take about 5-10 minutes to complete this survey and join us in guiding the future of the Downtown San Jose PBID! Take the survey in English, Spanish or Vietnamese. Your input will be considered as plans are made to continue PBID services in Downtown San Jose.
Keep up with Downtown San Jose with our weekly Downtowner Online and monthly Downtown Dimension e-newsletters.  Here's the June edition.
