Dear Members and Downtown Stakeholders:

We continue to have conversations with many of you about what recovery looks like, how we can best leverage our outdoor spaces when we reopen and what would be most helpful to you right now. Downtown is slowly opening with a slight uptick in open and partially opened businesses now at nearly 20%.

Let's keep these conversations going so we can support recovery efforts! Please let SJDA staff know how we can best support you.

We are in this together.

The Road to Recovery
Downtown Farmers' Market presented by Kaiser Permanente opens Friday, June 5. The market will open next week with social distancing protocols and some new rules. We hope this is the first step in outdoor experiences that can be part of our recovery.

Councilmember Raul Peralez' Greater DTSJ Economic Recovery Survey: Small Business Owners and community leaders are discussing solutions on how to help the Greater Downtown San Jose area recover economically from the COVID-19 pandemic. Of course, they need your input! Please take this less-than-five-minute survey to share the impacts that you have experienced and your business needs.

And the link to Greater Downtown San Jose Economic Recovery Task Force, so you can follow their progress.

Construction hours extended Monday through Saturday for larger projects: City Manager Dave Sykes signed an Emergency Order on May 21 to extend construction hours, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, for project sites with an approved development permit or other planning approval that are at least 50,000 square feet of development or at least 50 residential units. The emergency order is effective immediately; the order is being brought to the City Council for ratification on June 2 or June 9.
Some PPP Funding Still Available
A message from Gina D. Dalma, Senior Vice President Public Policy at Silicon Valley Community Foundation:

Dear Nonprofit Partners:

We will continue to try to keep you updated with resources available for nonprofits. In that vein, we’re surprised, but pleased, there is still funding in the PPP program, so our partners at Self-Help have offered their help to our nonprofit community to apply for these funds.  Please reach out directly to Ginger at Self Help if you would like to apply.
