So.....It appears we are coming out of lock-down?

What next?

Its has been 10 weeks since the UK entered lock-down. We have all been effected by it, and for many businesses it has been the toughest period they have ever experienced. Thankfully, we are now starting to see a gentle easing of some of the restrictions, but does easing feel like it is going to be easier? There is a real challenge for all of us, and in particular businesses. Business is never easy, or perhaps we should say straightforward, so how do we take steps now as the restrictions hopefully continue to lift, and the economy is released. Many people are already starting to get back to work, which is great! many feel ready to get going where they left off, perhaps even think about getting back to the office soon? Start-ups have many advantages over established businesses coming out of an experience like this, and one of them is no rules have been made yet within the business. There is an agility and responsiveness to a start-up, and if there is one thing we have all seen and learnt through what has been a really tough time is that we can adapt very well to challenges. Many of the businesses we have seen in our online events have been doing just that for the last 10 weeks. Their businesses may now looks very different to where they were a few months ago, they have adapted and responded to a changing world very quickly. It has really shone a spotlight on how resilient people can be, as well as resourceful. Easing isn't necessarily a promise that will make life easier, its a different world with many challenges still to come, but, from what we have seen businesses are evolving, busy preparing to start trading again, and poised to come out stronger.

“The Kent Foundation has been an instrumental source of support, guidance and sanity in what has been a really challenging time both emotionally and for my business. The regular online masterminds have given me the opportunity to troubleshoot areas of concern as well as meet with other businesses across Kent (ones that I hadn’t had the opportunity to before, when meetings were location based!) and feel a sense of comradery between us. The meetings with my mentor(s) have had me spinning with inspiration and bursting with positivity to take advantage of this time to work ‘on’ instead of ‘in’ my business with great success. Outside the mastermind meetings and mentor sessions, I’ve been amazed by the wonderful community the Kent Foundation have brought together. I find myself regularly meeting with or talking to other KF businesses about my ideas, their work, joining their podcasts or interacting on their isolation Facebook groups. Huzzah The Kent Foundation!"

What's on this week
Contact us if you would like more information, or a link for any of the activities.

The Kent Foundation believe we have an enviable resource in our volunteer business mentors to help businesses in the county recover from the Covid-19 crisis. The lock-down has emphasised the invaluable support our volunteer business mentors and staff deliver. In the face of this unexpected and quite unique situation the support and community we provide could not of been more relevant. The future of the Foundation is stable in the short term, however, to continue with our current level of support, respond to the demands of the current crisis, and meet the future needs of Kent’s young businesses we do require further funding.
