July 2013

Following the Floyds

Here's a bit of honesty: there are so many days when we just want to get to the field. We can easily loose sight that even this part of our journey as we raise support is very important to our later ministry in Bogotá. It is teaching us patience, how to rely on the Lord, and even more about ourselves and our sinfulness and need for the Gospel everyday. We feel inadequate, under skilled, and unworthy. However, God continues to remind us that he has called us! He has called us to share His love and truth and to go to Bogotá. Even though this month has had its ups and downs, we have been encouraged. One huge encouragement was our week in Cherokee, which you can read a little more about below. And while we were in Cherokee, we were able to have dinner with one of Angela's childhood friends. They haven't seen one another in about 18 years so it was such a sweet time to reconnect and pick up like they had never been apart. We have also been able to get more involved with the church we have been attending (Christ Community Church) since we moved to Locust Grove. So overall, July has been a good month. In the ups and downs we just pray that God will allow us to keep trekking and pushing forward as He teaches and leads us. Thank you for following us through this journey. We cherish your prayers and we know that you have ups and downs as well.  May we be able to encourage you through some of those times.

Week in Cherokee

We had the gracious honor to help out a week in Cherokee, NC. MTW (Mission to the World) has a campground that they lease from the Cherokee people and they do community outreach and community service all summer long. You can read more about their ministries here. We were blessed to spend a week there working along side the camp and the teams. It was definitely a week filled with encouragement and seeing God do amazing things in the groups and in the community. Ross was able to lead the devotionals to the teams throughout the week. We were able to meet so many people and share our passion for missions and for Bogota. It was so great to watch the Lord work in the lives of teens and adults alike to see the need to share our faith wherever we are.

"May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face to shine upon us, that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. Let the peoples praise you, oh God; let all the peoples praise you!"

-Psalm 67:1-3

Pray for us.
  • that we would be continually focused on Christ and grounded in the word and prayer
  • for our upcoming schedule and for more opportunities for us to share our story would arise
  • that God would continue to raise up faithful support family for our ministry
  • we would love be at 80% by mid November so that we can make the deadline for a mandatory training in January. if we miss this deadline, we will not be able to go through this training until July 2014. (which we would love to be on the field by then.)
How can we pray for you? Send us your request.

We are currently at 17% of our needed monthly support. Would you consider being a bean and supporting us financially? We need both one-time and recurring gifts. Click for more information and details.

Did you know that you can record you pledge now and wait to begin giving at a later date? The faster you record your pledge, the quicker we can get to Bogota. To do so, just email us your desired pledge and we can help you.

We desire to make the deadline for one of the trainings in January. To do so, we need to be approaching 80% by mid November. To make this goal, we need those of you who have prayed about giving to record your desired pledge with the home office. If you have any questions, please let us know.
