|Our Biggest Event of the Year!
by Christine Lessard, Chief Advancement Officer + Director of Development
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to write to you about our biggest event of the year—the Annual SGS Luncheon! Please mark your calendars for this year’s event which will be held May 14, 2015, at the Westin Seattle.
If you have yet to attend a Luncheon, you will be in for a treat. It is a wonderful celebration, bringing over 700 people together to support our mission and our students. Because the event continues to grow, this year, ALL grades will be attending and participating in some fashion.
What makes our Luncheon unique, is that students are at the center—just as they are with their learning at SGS. I particularly enjoy working with the student speakers prior to the event, co-designing the program together. Then, we see them lead a room of 700 more confidently than most adults ever could. It is a poignant visual of the confidence and leadership skills they have gained in their time at SGS, and for me, an uplifting reminder that all SGS girls are being equipped to be our next community and world leaders.
Additionally, we will honor two women role models that day, with the Grace Hopper Awards for Outstanding Achievement, and Exemplary Leadership. This year’s winners will be announced in early March and will be joining quite impressive company. You can see a list of past winners here.
Our main goal of the Luncheon is to raise visibility and funds for the school—$262,500 this year to be exact—but there is no ticket price to attend so that the event remains accessible to all. Anyone is welcome to come! We do hope that attendees are inspired to make a gift that is meaningful to them during the program that day—at whatever level that may be. And, we know that looks differently for every individual.
We have big plans for this year’s event and we could use your help! Please spread the word and invite a friend or two, or if you are interested in hosting a table of 10, please email me. Furthermore, we need your help securing sponsors for the event. If you have a connection to a employer or another corporation that may be interested in a sponsorship opportunity, please let me know.
Thank you in advance. I hope to see you on May 14th for an hour of good food, great company, lots of fun, and heaps of inspiration!
