Our Community In + Out of the Classroom

At her graduation, one of our recent alumnae reminded her peers and their families that "we are all infinitely connected to that little purple school down the street." She is right, Seattle Girls' School is so much more than just the buildings on the corner of MLK and S Jackson St—we are made up of all the supporters and partners that enrich an SGS education every day. From our mentors, who are advocates and role models for an individual student, to our Wednesday Workshop partners who give students an opportunity to discover new passions, Seattle Girls' School is constantly expanding beyond its walls and is tightly woven together by the individuals and organizations that are dedicated to empowering girls.

Of course, SGS is first and foremost made up of our inspiring students and their families. We hope that you will join us in strengthening that community at our Fall Fund Kick-Off on October 21st at the Northwest African American Museum from 4-6:30 or by visiting our school

You're Invited to the Fall Fund Kick-Off!

Now you may be asking, what is the Fall Fund? The Fall Fund is a significant and yearly effort, providing much needed funding for mission-critical programs and expenses. The Fall Fund helps make up the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating a girl at SGS. The Fall Fund is the one time all members of our community are asked to contribute to SGS. Let's lead the way and make the transformative SGS education a reality for every student.

The Fall Fun(d) Kick-Off will be at NAAM from 4-6:30 PM on Friday, October 21st. Please enjoy the museum exhibits and food from Simply Soulful. One pumpkin per family will be provided for carving (categories and prizes to be announced).

Amazon Technology Open House for Kids

On Saturday, October 8th, Amazon will be hosting a Technology Open House for middle schoolers! Get an inside look at how engineering and computer science drive innovation on the Amazon Campus in South Lake Union. For more information about this great opportunity, see their event registration page

Back to School Night

On Thursday, October 13th from 6-7:45 PM we would like to invite current SGS parents and guardians to Back to School Night. This is an opportunity for families to learn about our curriculum planned for the year, meet their student's core and specialist teachers, and hear about our co-curricular offerings. Please enjoy a parent Info Fair from 6-6:30 PM and grade level presentations at 6:30 PM.

Open Houses

We invite prospective families and students to join us at one of our Open Houses on November 6th (1-3 PM) and November 30th (6-8 PM). Open Houses are a great way for families to learn about SGS and ask questions from our staff, faculty, and current students and families. Please help us spread the word about these admissions opportunities!

Community Association of Parents (CAP)

Join us on Friday October 21st from 8:30-9:30 AM in the Singh House for our monthly CAP Meeting. Meetings will be held on the third Friday of each month unless there is a school calendar conflict.

We Need YOU! We have volunteer opportunities for every kind of schedule from regular commitments, one time projects, chaperones, or volunteering from home. Have an idea or talent to share? Let us know!

Our Methods of Communication

We have thought intentionally about our parent/guardian communications to ensure that you are connected to what's happening at SGS. This includes a monthly newsletter (that's what you're reading now!) and weekly grade-level emails from your daughter's teachers, which are sent out on Fridays. For a peek into the classroom we also have classroom blogs, which are regularly updated.
