Effective home remedies for colds and flu

7 ways to beat colds & flu

 Dear <<First Name>>

Apologises its been a while since my last newsletter. As the weather has got dramatically colder recently and many people have got sick I thought it would be useful to give you some good home remedies.
So you are struck down with a cold or flu and you can't get out.. what should you do???

1. First sign of a virus is usually a sore or scratchy throat.

Immediately gargle with 1 tsp of organic apple cider vinegar ( must have the 'mother' i.e. be alive full of enzymes not p
asteurised) in a little warm but not hot water as that kills all those beneficial enzymes. Both Melrose and Braggs are good brands. Gargle for 30-60 seconds and then swallow. You can also use fresh lemon juice or if you have nothing else use a generous pinch of good quality salt. Other great options would be fresh garlic and ginger mixed with lemon or lime juice and honey. Swallow unless you are using salt.... Even if you don't get the sore throat but feel unwell (even mildly ) drink one of the above 2-3 x day.

2. Drink fresh lemon and honey drinks.

An old fashioned but great remedy.Use a quarter of a fresh lemon and good quality honey. Ideally organic.

3. Rub lavender essential oil which is both anti-viral and anti-bacterial on your neck over the glands.

You could also use tea tree essential oil.

4. Keep warm.... basic but so important.

We all get caught out when there is large difference between day and night temperatures so wear layers.

5. Steer clear of any dairy or wheat products which only increase mucus.

6. Don't worry too much about eating except plenty of fluids and chicken or clear soups ( your grandmother was right).

7. Rest,rest and rest....

Of course if you have good quality vitamin C  2.5 mg x 3 day and ideally anti infection herbs take those asap.

Beat colds and flu hopping list ( get organic where possible)
Apple cider vinegar with the 'mother'
Fresh lemons or limes
Fresh ginger root
Head of garlic
Essential oils of lavender or tea tree
Good quality salt

Whats the difference between a cold and flu?

With flu the symptoms are more severe with fever, body aches and pain ,headache and worse fatigue. Treatment for both is similar but bed rest is even more important for flu.

Stop food poisoning fast

In January I got food poisoning when overseas. Once I realised what had happened I got fresh garlic and lemon juice and mixed that with a little water and sipped that slowly and within a few hours I felt better.
Other excellent food poisoning remedies are to sip apple cider vinegar ( with the mother) with a little water and also mix 2 tsp of activated charcoal with water and drink that. These 2 together should get rid of food poisoning within a very short time.

Don't worry about eating until  you feel better. The ideal first food is mashed ripe banana with natural live yogurt.
