March: the month of mobility
The shell stretch is a comfortable, active stretch of the spine.
Lower the buttocks towards the feet and rest the forehead on the mat.
Place the arms next to the body and breathe into the back and sides of the ribs.
Break up the sitting hours with an effective back rotatory release.
Lie on your back with your foot resting on the knee of the straight leg.
Use the opposite hand to gently guide the knee across the body.
Ensure your shoulders are countering the rotation of the back by remaining on the floor.
Take a few deep breaths to allow for the release and relaxation.
The cat stretch🐱
Starting on all fours - inhale to prepare.
Exhale to slowly begin to nod your chin and tuck your pelvis forwards to gently flex your spine towards the ceiling.
Think of spreading the shoulder blades apart.
Allow your neck to hang heavily between the arms.
Inhale to return the spine to neutral.
Pilates in-studio class timetable
Take a look at our weekly Pilates class times below. Our classes are small groups and take Covid protocols into consideration. We are continuing to offer online Pilates classes and send out videos weekly.
Our young Teens Pilates class is set to start in the next week or two with classes planned for Mondays at 15.15. These classes are a great way to release some tension and to promote body health during these stressful times. If your children may be interested please let us know - they may have friends keen to join too!

Pregnancy Pilates class
Our antenatal/postnatal class is going well with our clients enjoying the different movements and exercises every week. It is wonderful to help clients through their pregnancy journey and we look forward to helping them after giving birth as well.

In November 2020 Adam Shapiro partook in the SA Kneeboard Championship in Lamberts Bay. He walked away as the winner of the Veteran's division. Congrats Adam!

Exploring beautiful Cape Town
Recently, we have had many clients telling us about their weekend ventures on the mountains surrounding Cape Town. We love hearing the stories of the wonderous fauna and flora and receiving pictures of the views seen while hiking. A couple of standout mentions this summer include Oppelskop, Noordhoek Peak (pictured below) and Queen's Blockhouse.
