Welcome to the Springfield Park newsletter

The latest events and activities in and around Springfield Park

Thank you to our conservation volunteers!

The Springfield Sunday volunteers did an impressive job clearing one of the natural play features at one of our play areas - we removed a mountain of nettles, burdock and a lots of fencing leaving the feature accessible!

You can join our next task on Sunday 4 December to help prepare the site for our new hedgerow.

We will be:

  • removing vegetation from the new hedgerow location
  • loosening top soil where the trees and whips are to be planted
  • finishing with tea and biscuits!

Please register on eventbrite for your free ticket to confirm attendance.

Park Updates

Pathway refurbishments

We have had contractors on site this month who have been carrying out some much needed repairs across the park. This includes sections of full resurfacing as well as patching pot holes and cracks to maintain good, safe access for all of our visitors.

Please take care over the next couple of weeks as we will have heavy plant moving around the park and some paths may be temporarily shut.

A big impact from our litter pick

Thank you to all of our volunteers who took part in the litter pick last month. As you can see, they cleared an impressive amount of waste  -  filling up the cage on the back of the Keeper's buggy!

Not only does this have a big positive impact on the park in terms of presentation and protecting wildlife, it also means our Keepers can spend more time looking after the park in other ways.

Our next litter pick is this Sunday 27 November 2pm - 3pm, meet at Springfield House.
