How To Make Money with Office 365 (Part II/III)
By Harry Brelsford, Founder and Chairman,
SMB Nation

My blog series continues with the second installment on how to monetize Office 365 into an efficient and economically viable business model for consultants, MSPs and channel partners. But this “show me the money” series should also be interesting to in-house IT Pros from different walks of life. The last blog installment covered maturity matching, migrations and application layering.

SmartShield Instant Recovery: A Partner’s View
image   By Bob Nitrio, Ranvest Associates

I discovered Centurion Technologies and SmartShield when I had to replace two aging, malware-plagued computers at a senior living community clubhouse. Although I had an instant recovery product already, I wasn’t satisfied with it. This client was over two hours away and I needed something to make the new systems bulletproof.

My search for a replacement solution led to Centurion’s SmartShield. This program restores a system to a locked-down state every time you reboot...

Mobility Matter: Unlocking your smartphone
for O365 use
By Harry Brelsford, Founder and Chairman,
SMB Nation

I recently came across an article on the Tech Times site, written by Joseph Mayton, on a new piece of legislation signed in by US President Barack Obama, known as the Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act, which allows consumers to legally unlock their phones and purchase unlocked phones. I had a few questions about this, so I also spoke with an old friend, Steve Hilton, who helped me better understand the changes to getting and using unlocked phones.

Generating More Revenue from Office 365

A key theme that kept coming up at the recent SMB Nation Fall Conference was “How do we make more money from Office 365?” A main value proposition of Office 365 is that it’s easy to deploy and maintain, meaning that partners who were dependent on revenue from server installation and maintenance are having to adapt their business model. Thus, the message that attachedapps delivered at the Conference was very timely and very well received since their apps are designed for partners to generate additional revenue while filling in a key functionality gap in Office 365.

Stuffed Jack-O-Lantern Bell Peppers

Ingredients:

6 bell peppers, any color
1 pound ground beef
1 egg
4 slices whole wheat bread, cubed
1 small onion, chopped
1 small tomato, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup prepared yellow mustard
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.

Lightly mix together the ground beef, egg, bread cubes, onion, tomato, garlic, chili sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

Wash the peppers, and cut jack-o'-lantern faces into the peppers with a sharp paring knife, making triangle eyes and noses, and pointy-teeth smiles. Slice off the tops of the peppers, and scoop out the seeds and cores.
