Dear Supporters and Friends,
We are keeping our heads down and sticking at the work here in Xi’An. The work, while not quickly growing, is steady and productive. We have been blessed with a few folks who have been consistent visitors and who have been open to studying the Bible. One man named Mr. Zhang has recognized his need to join the church and we consistently pray that he will make that step and continue to grow. We are not in a rush to add numbers. Seeing seeds take root and grow into strong, fruitful believers is well worth the wait and persistence.
School is going well for me. This semester I am not required to attend any classes. I praise the Lord for the freedom in my schedule and the ability to work from home. I still have papers to write and projects to finish, but working from home on my own time is a blessing. I find myself heading into the school about once a week to meet with my classmates and do research. A handful of them have shown an interest in Christianity and the gospel and for that reason I feel the need to maintain a relationship with them. A few of these students have been to my house countless times and who know I’m a believer and have opened up about their own beliefs with me. In the mix there is a Marxists, a Muslim, a self-proclaimed Christian and two atheists. While all claim to have a “belief” of sorts, not one of them “lives out” their beliefs. Pray with us for these few.
In addition to the above mentioned, I would like to continue to ask prayer for the literary projects we have underway. The hymnbook is a quarter of the way finished and I have a theology book and several other pamphlets on the back-burner. Beth is also picking up a couple of small projects for her Sunday School Class and everyone in our church is involved in some way in the production of these materials. China needs good resources that are written in Chinese for the Chinese and with the time that God has given us right now, we would like to see some of these projects come to fruition.
