Attendees will:
Develop an understanding of physical literacy and how it can have a positive impact across the school/setting
Learn how to develop the physical skills of all learners enabling them to become lifelong movers, particularly within the classroom setting.
Collaborate with primary teaching staff within Partneriaeth.
Training outline:
2 days face to face (March 9th 2023 at Cothi suite Halliwell, Carmarthen and July 6th 2023, 09:30-15:15)
Each practitioner will receive funding of £750 and will contribute to the development of a regional physical literacy resource.

We are delighted to announce details of our conference for teachers of GCSE and A Level English Literature. The event will be run online on Teams and offers teachers a week of professional learning with 13 talks on a range of texts, from an anti-racist approach to ‘Of Mice and Men’, approaches to unseen poetry at GCSE, to ‘Teaching Hamlet’ and ‘Rereading the Gothic: Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea.’ The sign up link is here
A practical meeting to discuss good practice in preparing for the new curriculum, new resources, recent projects and the potential of the Siarter Iaith together with a session to present the basics of GCSE reading assessments and to discuss sample materials.
There is a further opportunity to engage in professional learning on anti-racism on the 17th of March 2023. The session will be led by Rachel Clarke from DARPL. This is an opportunity for all teachers and leaders who have not yet been part of the anti-racism training. Attendees will have a clear definition and understanding of racism and anti-racism. An understanding of neurodiversity is crucial for inclusive and equitable classroom. One in seven learners are estimated to be neurodiverse. This training will explore what being neurodiverse means, how it can present in school settings and what strategies can be effective. This two hour session is being delivered by Parents Voices in Wales and will draw upon their extensive experience and specialist knowledge of supporting and understanding neurodiverse learners. 15th February 2023 9.30-3.30 – In Person Training, Carmarthen
A growing number of children are presenting with attachment difficulties following exposure to trauma. This full day in person training session will give participants the opportunity to understand what being trauma informed means and how it can impact on the wellbeing of the whole school. This training is being delivered by Trauma Informed Schools UK and will draw upon their extensive experience and specialist knowledge of supporting learners who have experienced trauma. The impact that ACEs and traumatic experiences can have on learners cannot be underestimated. We have an opportunity for whole clusters to receive a free training session, so that every member of school and cluster staff can develop their own understanding of these barriers to learning and how to better support the young people they work with. Please see attached link to guidance on Community Focused Schools: Family Engagement which was launched on 27/1/2023 and builds on our Community Focused Schools guidance published in November. The guidance is non-statutory and is designed to provide a helpful resource for the sector in understanding the benefits of adopting a community focused approach and tackling the impact of poverty on attainment. We would be grateful if you could please promote the guidance to your networks. We will be adding to this resource with further research, guidance and case studies over the coming months.
INNOVATION+ is designed for senior educational leaders across Wales. Education reform is a national priority in Wales and individuals in all sectors and at all levels are committed to achieving system-wide improvement and as Till Leopold, the World Economic Forum’s education lead emphasised, team-based creative solution finding is a ‘must have’ in education.
These sessions have been developed in line with the skills integral to the Four Purposes and will be delivered by two experienced innovators, Professor Andy Penaluna and Jessica Leigh Jones MBE. They will share their own thinking, and aim to help leaders move beyond hindsight towards developing their own innovative insights.

Researchers at Cardiff University have developed a bilingual program/app with young people to support their mood and well-being, called MoodHwb. Do you know of any young people who would be interested in trialling the programme? You might wish to inform the school's wellbeing lead about the project.
It is an opportunity to offer mental health support to young people, and the feedback will help to develop resources in the future. All participants will receive a gift voucher and certificate. It's free to take part. Find out more
