EARLY-BOOKING DISCOUNT EXTENDED: Although the deadline for "early bird" registration for EuroPerio 10 has now passed, the EFP has decided to extend the reduced early-booking fees to the next 1,000 people who register for for the congress.

EFP CALLS FOR PHOTO CONTEST ENTRIES: The EFP is inviting members of its affiliated national societies of periodontology who are keen dental photographers to participate in the federation’s second photo contest. Prizes in three categories – healthy gums/healthy life, dental disease, and extreme/freestyle – will be awarded at EuroPerio10. The deadline for submissions is April 15.

NEW GUIDELINE ON STAGE IV PERIODONTITIS WILL BE PRESENTED: The EFP’s S3-level clinical practice guideline on the treatment of stage IV periodontitis will be presented for the first time at EuroPerio10 in Copenhagen in a session in the main congress hall on Thursday 16 June.

THREE LIVE SURGERIES AT EUROPERIO10: There will be three live surgeries at EuroPerio10. On Thursday 16 June, two leading European surgeons will tackle similar cases using different techniques of mucogingival surgery – Ion Zabalegui (Spain) will demonstrate the tunnel technique and Massimo de Sanctis (Italy) will use the flap technique. On Friday 17 June, Istvan Urban (Hungary) will perform a surgery aiming at vertical bone regeneration in the posterior mandible.

'TRACKS', KEY TO FINDING RIGHT SESSIONS IN COPENHAGEN: One of the innovations in the scientific programme for EuroPerio10, is the creation of “tracks” to enable attendees to find the sessions that are most relevant to them according to their professional profile.

FINAL EUROPERIO SERIES SESSION: The seventh and final EuroPerio Series online-education session takes place on Monday 14 March from 18.00 to 20.00 (CET), focusing on new concepts and approaches in periodontal regeneration, with Leonardo Trombelli (chair) and speakers Sandro Cortellini, Anton Sculean, and Serhat Aslan. Registration costs €35, but it is free for people who have already registered for EuroPerio10.

INTERNATIONAL PERIO MASTER CLINIC: The EFP's International Perio Master Clinic, which had been scheduled to take place in León, Mexico on February 25 and 26 this year, will now take place on May 5 and 6, 2023. The event will focus on hard- and soft-tissue aesthetic reconstructions around teeth and dental implants. The second International Perio Master Clinic's single-track programme allows the attendee to witness all aspects of regeneration and plastic aesthetic surgery under one roof.

GUM HEALTH DAY 2022: A set of slogans for this year's Gum Health Day has been designed by the EFP for its affiliated national societies of periodontology to use for the May 12 awareness day. Some slogans relate to this year's theme of “Treat Your Gums”, others concern the importance of early diagnosis of periodontal diseases, and others still encourage dental professionals to register for EuroPerio10. Full details will be given at the EFP general assembly in Vienna on March 26.

JCP DIGEST: Full-mouth or quadrant-wise instrumention to treat stage III and IV periodontitis? This is the question addressed in JCP Digest 96, which summarises the findings of a randomised, blinded, multicentre trial. JCP Digest 97 explores the hot topic of the use of antibiotics in therapy peri-impantitis therapy, focusing on a clinical trial of the use of adjunctive systemic metronidazole.
