Perio Workshop 2022 prepares guideline on therapy of peri-implant diseases 

Seventy-five experts from 21 countries met at Perio Workshop 2022 on November 6 to 9 to draw up a clinical-practice guideline for the management of peri-implant diseases. The workshop considered 13 systematic reviews on peri-implant health, the prevention of peri-implant diseases, and the treatment of peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis.

Gum Health Day 2023 will promote healthy gums as a lifestyle

The EFP’s annual gum-health awareness day next year will focus on healthy gums as a lifestyle and as a vital component of well-being. Gum Health Day 2023 will be based around the slogan “Healthy gums look good on you. Protect them!”, which is designed to convey the EFP’s core objective of “periodontal health for a better life” while striking a positive tone of voice.

The EFP has launched a “campaign builder” tool to promote next year’s Perio Master Clinic 2023 and International Perio Master Clinic 2023, allowing national perio societies and individual clinicians to create tailored social-media posts.

A clinical trial, now summarised as JCP Digest 105, tested the assumption that the local application of leucocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) may improve wound healing and offer benefits to alveolar-ridge preservation.

Latest Perio Talks podcast explores sports performance and periodontal health

The latest EFP Perio Talks podcast features British Olympic and European champion rower Lucy Glover talking with Ian Needleman, professor of periodontology at UCL Eastman Dental Institute in London, about oral health and sports performance. The podcast focuses on the high levels of tooth decay and gum problems among elite athletes, the possible reasons for this, its potential impact on performance, and what positive things athletes can do to improve their oral health.
