A hope worth striving for

At Monday Night Youth this term we are taking a look at some of the big issues that surround the Christian faith. This week we looked at the question: What is Heaven?
To help us we looked at Revelation 21:1-4:
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away… And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
One day, God’s people will live forever in a new and beautiful new earth. Getting to heaven is not the end of the story. Those who have been saved by God through Jesus will live forever in God’s perfect place. If God created this world full of pleasure and excitement, the new heavens and the new earth will be even better!
What an amazing hope! And even more wonderfully the passage revels that God will live with his people. The hope of everlasting life is amazing for the Christian! There is so much to look forward to and the hope of living with God forever enables us to live in a way that shows the results of being God’s people, saved by his grace.
The hope of heaven is worth striving for, and we can be confident of spending eternity with God because our sins have been forgiven through Christ.
