New Dashboard feature

The new Sheep Genetics dashboard can be accessed via the member login section of the Sheep Genetics web site. It allows you to investigate the rate of genetic progress that your flock is making, and the reasons why, in much greater detail than the standard Genetic Trends PDF report you would normally receive after each run.  The dashboard allows you to investigate the genetic trend, or accuracy trend, of any reportable ASBV for your flock.  Two graphs are presented side by side so you can compare the ASBV performance of your whole flock to the sires you used, the dams you used, or compare two different ASBV trends side by side.  The graphs incorporate overall analysis averages as well as breed or type averages so you can compare performance against your contemporaries.

Also on this page you can see graphs of your generation intervals for both sires and dams (an often overlooked aspect of improving your genetics) and in the centre of the page there is a bubble distribution graph which shows which percentile bands your animals fall into for any selected trait.  If you have any questions about the use of these graphs in your breeding programs you should contact Sheep Genetics staff who can guide you through it.

Breeder profile articles

In each edition of the Breeders Bulletin, our quarterly newsletter sent to all breeders, we like to include a breeder profile article. These breeder profiles are a great way to show what you are focusing on in your breeding program and allows other studs to learn about potential resources they can access.

Articles are typically one page in length and are submitted with a high res image, and cover information such as location, size of operation and goals of your breeding program. If you would like to submit an article for upcoming newsletters please email info@sheepgenetics.org.au.
