Reproduction Summary Report

Reproduction is an important profit driver for all sheep producers. To help breeders identify what information is being used in the reproduction analyses for their flock, Sheep Genetics have developed a new Reproduction Summary. This report will summarise whether the flock is getting into the Number of Lambs Born (NLB) or Number of Lambs Weaned (NLW) analysis, as well as highlighting areas in which the data recording for reproduction might be improved. A test run of the report was recently sent out to a number of LAMBPLAN clients which, feedback was used to refine the report and ensure that it is clear and concise. The new Reproduction Summary will become one of the standard reports emailed to clients. It will be released with the annual analysis upgrades that are reported to all. More information can be found in the next issue of the Breeder Bulletin, which will arrive shortly.

Scanner Accreditation

Sheep Genetics held an Ultra-Sound Carcase Scanner Accreditation in Armidale NSW in February 2017. It is essential that the muscle and fat scan information submitted to LAMBPLAN or MERINOSELECT is collected by an accredited scanner, this needs to be submitted with the Scanners accreditation number so that we can verify the accuracy of the information.
Below is a list of the accredited scanners that we will accept data from.

An accredited scanner: is someone who has met the scanning accuracy criteria to be accredited by Sheep Genetics. It is achieved by submitting several sets of scanning data to demonstrate repeatability.
(P) Provisional accreditation: can be achieved by submitting several sets of scanning data to demonstrate repeatability. Carcase data collected by provisionally accredited scanners may be submitted to Sheep Genetics for routine evaluation. Provisionally accredited scanners must attend to the next available Sheep Genetics scanning accreditation workshop to obtain full accreditation.
All provisionally and fully accredited scanners are required to attend periodic Sheep Genetics scanning accreditation workshops to update their accreditation
