Analysis Upgrades Webinar

Sheep Genetics aim to continually supply the best genetic evaluation possible to you and the Australian Sheep Industry. To maintain this quality an annual upgrade to the OVIS software that runs the analysis is made. These changes will be made on the 7th of May for MERINOSELECT and the 14th of May for LAMBPLAN. It is important to understand the enhancements made to the analysis and why you may see changes to the ASBVs of your animals at this time.

This year we are seeing a range of improvements to the analysis, including the addition of pregnancy scans, addition of new visual wool traits and the long awaited single step analysis for carcase traits. To discuss these in more detail Sheep Genetics will be holding a webinar on the analysis upgrades on Friday the 6th of May at 3.00pm AEST. It is highly recommended that you attend or watch the webinar on Sheep Genetics YouTube channel before the analysis is upgraded. If you are interested in attending the 2016 Analysis Upgrades webinar, please register by contacting info@sheepgenetics.org.au

New LAMBPLAN Development Officer

Sheep Genetics would like to welcome Clara Collison to the team. Clara recently completed a Bachelor of Animal Science at the University of New England. She also completed an honours project investigating treatment alternatives for nitrite poisoning in sheep.  During university she gained experience in many industries, working on orchards, feedlots, sheep, cattle and cropping properties. Clara was also selected as a member of the 2014 Australian National Meat judging team, travelling to the USA to compete and experience a unique industry tour.

Clara grew up on a small property in the country town of Scone NSW. Growing up she was highly involved in the horse industry working and competing in many disciplines over the years. She attended St Josephs High School where she developed a passion for agriculture. She enjoyed being involved in the cattle showing team and the agriculture department.  After school she seeked the ultimate outback adventure travelling to a remote cattle station in the Northern territory to work as a jillaroo.
In Clara’s spare time she enjoys riding horses, fishing, touch football, travelling and spending time with friends and family. Clara is excited to join the sheep genetics team and is looking forward to meeting everyone in her travels.
