2013 Regional Forums
Sheep Genetics is running a series of regional workshops across Australia during 2013. The aim of these workshops is to help you increase your knowledge with the latest information from Sheep Genetics that can help you and your business.
Dates are as follows:
6th June - Armidale NSW
18th June - Hamilton VIC
20th June - Clare SA
25th June - Dubbo NSW
27th June - Wagga Wagga NSW
August - Northam WA date t.b.a
The workshops run from 9:00 to 5:00 with a range of topics looking to help all members from new clients through to long term clients. The workshops will not be specifically LAMBPLAN or MERINOSELECT workshops, but a combination of both. The workshop is paced so that those members that are new to MERINOSELECT or LAMBPLAN are not left behind early.
With a number of changes being made to both the LAMBPLAN and MERINOSELECT analyses in the past couple of years it is important that you are up to date with all the happenings so that you can understand these as well as explain questions you may have from your clients.
Topics covered in the workshop include:
How exactly is an ASBV calculated
What is an Index, and how to understand the new indexes
How to use the Website, including uploading your sale and semen catalogues
How to get Management grouping right
Understanding the new NLW analysis
All workshops end with an hour open forum, where the Sheep Genetics staff will be able to answer any questions that you don’t have answered.
The cost to attend the Workshop is $30 per business unit, which covers the catering. You will receive a full set of workshop notes.
To attend the workshops you will need to RSVP to Sheep Genetics on 02 6773 2948 or email email@example.com
Throughout the year the LAMBPLAN and MERINOSELECT Project Officers will be conducting on property visits, allowing you the opportunity to meet and discuss your individual breeding enterprise, issues or concerns allowing the opportunity to maximise the benefit that ASBVs can have for your business.
If you would like the opportunity for Tom or Luke to visit your farm, you will need to register your interest by calling 02 6773 2948 or emailling firstname.lastname@example.org
Lifetime Fleece Traits
We are still very keen to get hold of any fleece measurement data that breeders have been collecting on adult ewes throughout life. This is in an effort to further understand fleece characteristics over the lifetime of the animal and improve our analysis.
If you have been recording lifetime fleece traits and have not submitted these please contact Luke Stephen via email email@example.com
